  1. It all started at 11pm last night and it now looks like Puc's little buddy is FINALLY on his way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shhhhh,, someones coming,, hope its not the owner of this computer,,,, the office here looks kind of important,,,, good thing I asked permission to use this thing,,,, gotta run!! More to follow!! Tip is jumping up and down,, even Trooper's horn is honking out in the parking lot!!! Be right back!!!!!! Maybe,,,
  2. Almost ready for his maiden voyage to parts unknown, Trooper - our gorgeous new Hyundai Ioniq Blue is showing REAL promise!! During the process of fitting the card board templates I made for our Ioniq Beds shown in this video, I watched as one of my license plate screws rolled down behind a rear seat and into the area where Troopers Lithium EV battery is housed. When I went to our dealership today - Betten Baker Hyundai of Muskegon Michigan - to get Troopers new License Plate, it was pouring rain so we rolled into the Service Center where I inquired about what I had to do to remove the rear seat to remove the frisky screw (I am one not to give Murphy any more chances than absolutely necessary!!).. By the time our Salesman (Robb = if you are gonna by a new Car = SEE ROBB!!!) and I got back with the plate, Spencer (service writer) and a VERY professional mechanic whose name I have sadly forgotten, pretty much had the rear seat out and were well on their way to recovering that rascally phillips headed varmint!!! TALK ABOUT SERVICE!!!! What a WONDERFUL feeling to be treated so special by such a GREAT group of people!! I also know that Robb stood in that dreaded Michigan Secretary Of State line for 2 hours today to get Troopers new plate for us so we could return to Sacramento for the birth of our soon to arrive new Grandson - THANK YOU ROBB!! What a WONDERFUL feeling to be treated so special by such a GREAT group of people!! From Sales, to Financial Services to the back room where the wrenches are spun and allll the way to my dear friend Jake who took Trooper out for one of our lifetime Betten Baker Hyundai free bath's = THANK YOU to ALL of you at Betten Baker Hyundai for showing what REAL service is!!! Hat's Off To Each Of You!! And to Trooper, I dedicate this song that a dear friend of mine sent me many years ago:
  3. ,,,, Freebird,,,, Tommy said "Pee"
  4. IMHE (inventing some new Code verbage here = In My Humble Experience), rust is not magnetic.. That said,, what I would do first thing is, if you can (never owned a 2nd Gen), stick my finger in the filler hole check the ceiling of the tank for actual rusting - if the ol finger thru the filler cant work = dental mirror and a flash light. If we are dealing with actual rust = sealing of the tank is mandatory.. If this is the case, you will have to remove the tank, hit it with muratic acid, neutralize and rinse out the acid real well and then seal it with Red-Kote tank liner.. Have used many other methods but Red Kote is the best of the best and I wouldnt waste my time with the other stuff,, again,, IMHE. If that gook turns out to actually be just dried/laqured fuel and we are not talking rust here,, I would use good old cheap and safe/simple to clean up White Vinegar.. Just completely drain the tank and top the tank off with a few gallons of the vinegar and let it set a few days.. I have seen that stuff clean up some pretty nasty tanks to useable, not necessary to seal level of useage PLUS vinegar is easier on the paint so totally useable with the tank still on the bike..
  5. ,, right back at cha my brother,,, right back at cha!!!! Yea yea yea,,, I know,, that Vaz is a cheater.... I would LOVE a shot a slow riding one set up stock... I think I will start a "Go-Fund A 2nd Gen For Puc So He Can Slow Ride It" account... We had to steal Vaz's bike while he was sleeping and fortunately he didn't turn us in for Grand Theft ..... ,, I wonder if that Go Fundy thingy would produce enough gullible,, I mean compassionate interest from enough lop eared slow riding Gen 2 riding varmints that I could scarf on that beat up old bike that @Freebird is selling... I have $25 dollars left over from buying our new Hybrid car so all I need is 6725 more $$'s and I could be practicing my slow riding on that one!!!!
  6. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW = CLOSE ONE THERE BROTHER!!!! Sooo glad to read you are ok!!! ,, GORGEOUS WING!! You got some GREAT friends!! THAT is wayyy cool!!
  7. By the way CaptN,, might not be a bad idea to make sure your putting together an updated lube system for the stator before you button her up.. There should be a little wire protruding from the oil orfice (hole) in the bolt on the end of crank and there also should be a splash plate for the center area of the stator.. I cant remember if it attaches to the stator itself or if it is attached to the cover that the stator mounts to,, I do that update splash plate sat on the cover side of the stator (I know,, I'm a dork) but regardless,, it is VERY important that you make sure that update is complete (so you dont fry another stator)...
  8. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! :dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool: If it were mine and knowing how long it's been down - I would make a real oil mess,, I would pull the plugs as Steve suggested and, with the stator cover off and fresh oil in her case - I would put a drill motor on that rotor/crank bolt and spin it (I believe that would be counter clockwise) fast enough to pre-lube the motor off her oil pump.. I know this will sound nuts (my idea's usually do) but I have seem/heard of more than one time dried motor smudge cam journals from starting them dry. I always do this when bringing an engine back to life that has not been ran in a few years,,,,,,,, probably just cause I am cheap/lazy and prefer not to have rebuild if I dont have to . It is important to heed Steve's advice and make sure you ground all the plugs if your gonna use the starter to spin it for any reason with the plugs out... I have a hunch it wouldnt do the ignition system any good to not ground them.. Also a REALLY good idea to either dump a teaspoon of oil/mystery oil in each pot before spinning her. Fogging Oil would work too.. No sense in having those rings remove any accumulated slight rusting in the bores without lube to help them.. :clap2::clap2::clap2::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool: CaptN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. IMHO,, they were cool bikes. Obviously they just didnt sell enough of them to see margins like they had hoped for.. A couple years ago a the guy who owned the Motus Dealership in Grand Rapids brought one to our Spring Run and I got to pour over it.. WOWZY what a well built machine.. Of course, sitting there with that big ol V-4 parks next to Tweeks = it REALLY stirred my heart. Steve, the guy who rode the bike over, invited us over to a whole day of Motus riding but neither myself or my HD ridin buddy ever made it over there.. The end game high dollar of the bike was big reason why we didnt,,, just to rich for our blood (I even told Steve that I thought it was gonna be a tough sell because of the price point). I guess now that this has happened I am gonna have to call my friend Jay Leno to get that ride... https://www.citybike.com/news-clues-rumors/motus-motorcycles-shutting-down-effective-immediately/ https://www.al.com/business/index.ssf/2018/09/birmingham-based_motus_motorcy.html
  10. Oh,, by the @The Tooch ,,, your name came up in a discussion between Tip and I the other day Dave!! I was going thru some old pic's and videos on one of my wayyy to many accumulated SD cards - moving stuff over to an external hard drive for storage.. It was video involving some guys doing some CRAZY stuff with a Helicopter and when I realized what it was I instantly told Tippy that I had a buddy who would do exactly that!!!!!! I get a chance (and if I can find it again) and if you would enjoy seeing it, YouTube!!
  11. INDEED TOOCH!!!!:dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool: ,,, only the stickers "Trooper" (already named him,,,, from the front he looks like a miniature Michigan State Trooper car = "Trooper" ) earns will not be like those,,,, they will be from far away places like Denali National Park and,, following in the same M.O. as Tweeks,,, Trooper only gets what he earns
  12. ,,,, and it appears that the lowly 2nd Gen is missing hers!!!!!!!! ,,,,, some hanky panky/funny business going on in Don's garage:witch_brew: By the way @Freebird ,,, before you do ANYTHING with the bars on that gorgeous SVTC.... Maybe ask @VentureFar about his experience with adjusting them... I know when Neil was in the process of accumulating the data/doing his tour on the new one I for his magazine article I was talking to him while he was riding it cross country and I am almost positive that the bike he was riding had developed a ding in the tank due to a bar adjustment attempt.. As I recall,,, he stated that GREAT care needed to be taken when loosing the bars!!!! Just an FYI my friend..
  13. They are a sneaky company,,, their latest sneaky move is a push to convince the general public that somehow the real Indian company never really died and their Indian repop is not really a repop,,, truth be danged all in the name of making ... This has gotten so bad in the real world that not to long ago I almost started a fight when I referred to the Polaris Indian as a Polaris when talking with a large group of Polaris motorcycle riders.. I was shown no less n 30 spots on one of those bikes where it was clearly marked "INDIAN" (even on the grips!!) and shown clearly that NO WHERE on the bike does the name "Polaris" appear... On the other hand though,, I personally think it was WAYYYYY COOL that Polaris took on the Feds and snuck the Sling Shot thru as a Motor Cycle during the insane heightened regulatory times of the day and age in which they were born:dancefool::clap2::clap2: IMHO,,, THAT was BAD TO THE BONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup:
  14. P.S. = WOWZY WOW WOW WOW ,,, now that right there's a pair of Aces of there ever were a pair of Aces
  15. Hi Eileen,,,,, I see you peekin over the Bosses shoulder reading this young lady.... Just wanted you to know not to feel bad about going when Don said that!! I know I was doing the same thing (and I could actually "feel" 90% of the rest of the club members going like this too!!) when he wrote that same thing a couple of new bikes ago.... Don't tell Don but, as you know,,, he has a terminal disease called Toxic Newbikeatosis and,, as it sounds by its name,, it is not curable.. The only thing you can do is love him, hold him and be gentle with him and be thankful that his affliction is slightly different than how this dreaded disease has affected some of the club members.. At least in your Hubbies case,, oddly enough he has shown a willingness to sell off prior bikes that also were his "last bikes",, thusly proving that there is always hope,, even in the Bosses case:missingtooth: Your friend Puc
  16. Hearing that brother!! Just got off the phone with my Son-In-Law out in Sac... Doing the math,,, at 3 bucks a gallon x 4 tanks of gas = 120 bucks to get us there!!! This thing is down right unreal!!! Get this one Don,,, it's AC works off the it EV mode so literally you can "start" the car (strange thing with these things,, you START the car and nothing happens other then the dash lights come on ) , set the inside climate control,,, crawl in the back and nod out... There is whole new "camping in my hybrid" trend that Tip and I are gonna start... May sound corny but coming from 2 people who have spent many many nights camping in a tent all over the country = this will be like going from Motel 6 to the Taj Ma Haul for Tip and I So the Sales Manager and I are deep in negotiations... We are down from 23,687 MSRP to 18,800 cash when something dawns on me.. I explain to him that it is VERY VERY important to me that ALL of the factory stickers and stuff are left INTACT on our new car when Tip and I drive it off the lot... He says,, "you dont want it detailed,, you want it just like you took it off the truck (except "prepped" of course)? - I said EXACTLY,, I GOTTA have my stickers,, dont mess with my stickers = ANY OF THEM!! And then I said,,, "Of course I dont wanna PAY for "detailing" either (get my stickers and save in the process).. All said,, ended up at 18,447 cash for a 23,687 car equipped with EXACTLY what we wanted!!! Full tank of gas TO BOOT!! SOOOOO MUCH FUN!!
  17. Wanna hear something down right ironic Deej? I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing when that lop eared Freebird varmint played the customary and traditional "this is my last bike" card in another thread!!! Doing it so smoothly,,,,,, like he didn't KNOW he was preachin to the choir:witch_brew:
  18. This thing is INCREDIBLE!!! In this video we are actually showing an average of 62 MPG (INSANE FUN!!!) out of our new Hyundai Ioniq!! Shortly after videoing this episode while traveling faster (still non-highway where the little car that could is suppose to get it's best fuel economy) we actually ran a steady 65 mpg!!
  19. I cant speak for Sir Bongo because he is one of our electrical guru's but I think what he is trying to say here CaptN is that, unlike a smaller bike with lesser amp load needs where the ignition coil is on the stator plate along with the supply going to the regulator/rectifier - our Ventures are "battery ignition" meaning their source for the ignition comes from the battery.. On our Venture stators there will be (3) white wires coming from the stator and no wires leading attached to the trigger coils. Those triggers and the total ignition system can be operated at full effeciency off a fully charged battery and the bike will start and run fine as long as the battery maintains a decent charge.. What you describe in the power loss, drog cylinders DOES sound very familiar to numerous stator loss situations I have encountered BUT - and its a HUGE but,,,, I did successfully cover many many miles with a completely gone stator just by hanging a fully charged car battery on the bike - I KNOW,, sounds NUTS but it does work = as long as the battery is charged your good to go!! On a scoot who's ignition electrical source is a coil(s) being energized by the flywheel (not talking impulse for setting up actual spark = that is what the trigger coils are for) this is NOT possible.. All that said CaptN,,, I agree with Bongo in that, if it were my bike, the first thing I would do is hook up a GOOD fully charged battery and roll the starter and see what happened... Here is a short vid of one of our stator failures where we ran across Texas with a battery charger to keep the battery up to get to my brother Squidleys house for a repair (Texas Hero that Squid is!!)..
  20. I use marked for accuracy syringes (find em at an Ag store used for horse doctoring = CHEAP,,, like these on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Qty-12-1-oz-wide-nose-reusable-Syringes-to-administer-dog-cat-horse-medicine/253829279696?hash=item3b19676fd0:g:qBUAAOSwMmBVh0w4:sc:USPSFirstClass!49445!US!-1 ) attached to the drain on the carb to pull fuel from the carb and then measure it. Keeping track of how much a given carb bowl should have in it if it is doing its thing properly is as simple as writing down what it has when running properly so you have a number to compare to.. I also use these syringes to clean my carbs occasionally. On the side mount vacuum slide CV carbs like on our Ventures this is really easy to do - just draw the fuel from the carb drain, look at measurement on syringe to see if float height is good (anwser to your question = if the float height is improperly set or other problem happening involving amount of fuel in bowl = you will see it by how much fuel is measured in syringe = float height determines jamount = make sense?) and fuel amount is proper, remove metering rod/slide assembly (PERFECT TIME TO CHECK DIAPHRAM CONDITION), inect carb cleaner into drain with syringe until carb cleaner flows from metering rod hole/emulsion tube (this will assure your getting cleaner into low speed passages), suck the cleaner out and note how much cleaner it took to overflow carb, squirt back in,,, other three carbs dont HAVE to have slides removed to clean them now that you know how much cleaner to inject.. Take notes so next time you can clean the carbs very quickly and easily.......
  21. You betcha ya lop eared Canuckian Spyder ridin varmint... Glad to be of assistance
  22. @Carbon_One ,, INDEED Larry = YOU have a VERY good memory my friend!!!! I got a chance and did dig around in DenDens awesome maintenance notes and sure nuff = frame has been updated:thumbsup: Good thing too cause,, after getting the output shaft out, I found out that we landed hard enough to actually crack/bend one of the u-joint bearing bosses and ended up "tweekin" that "arm" enough that it toasted that bearing BIG TIME!! What a mess BUT definitely could have been much worse if the frame had let go when she landed and went "squawk"!! By the way,,, I now have the parts sitting on the counter here just waiting to put her back together... @Freebird or @Marcarl or who ever else can make a corrective change in the read only tech section,,, the quoted part number needed for a replacement joint that reads "s-1500X" should read "5-1500X"...
  23. Heyyyyyy ya lop eared varmint - WELCOME HOME TO YOU TOO MY BROTHER!!!! Sooo,, @videoarizona , gotta a quick question for ya Vaz,,, how is that a professional picture takin (I have SEEN your work first hand so NO possibility of using modesty to having denied us of this ) varmint like you has not shared any vids or pics of this Horse House Motel you went and got?? I mean really brother,,, not only is not posting em up sort of just wrong,,, it's also a major CODE violation ya know!!
