  1. Well the journey is over for Marilyn! She reported getting home about a half hour ago. She just sent message to me that she is holding grandson and had to go! Guess I am back to being puffed wheat again lol. Stats for Marilyn are over 6000 miles, 21 states and three provinces. I am leaving in the morning and heading for Pete's place. Some may remember Pete from PIP. Going to spend the night there and head home Tuesday u less he talks me into another night!
  2. Ahh to be so young! Happy birthday Bob!
  3. Nice work! She is a beauty for sure ( look Dan its blue!) A labour of love for sure and worth every hour!
  4. Maybe they could cuddle with you hooter?!
  5. What a great honor for venture riders! I have always be proud of our group and the fine people within!
  6. No kidding here, but you may find that the dealer knows little about them either. It's a sad but all too often truth. Thanks to those that posted links as my tablet won't let me do that. I was in the same boat as you,but with all the knowledge available here I have tackled things I would have never dreamed of doing!
  7. Hmm properly inflated venoms are usually pretty good unless its got lots of miles on the tire. Also watch them for sidewall splits, its curse for that brand lately.
  8. Couple things, check to make sure front shocks are balanced for air. No more than 7 pounds but must be equal. Steering head may need tightening or loosening, look in tech area for how to do this. Tire pressure stood be near the max rated on the tire not what the bike manual says as the manual is normally for the stock tire the bike first gets. The tracking could also be just a plain wore out tire. What type is on there as there is big difference on handling characteristics of different front tires.
  9. Well we had a good day today visiting kin I haven't seen for literally 40 years! We got a ride out to the ranch with our niece ,good thing we didn't decide to ride in there as the final 2 miles is gravel and mud! My bride has left me! Marilyn got away about 3 pm ( an hour later than she wanted). She forgot her jacket with her bike key at the ranch! Just waiting to here from her as to how far she went today. One more day and then I will begin the final leg of the journey.
  10. Made it to Olds Alberta. Ducked off the road in Calgary area for a storm break, man did it come down, rain hail and wind. Camper set up in town trying arrange rides out to reunion as road into the ranch is not good for us. Cold tonight going to wallyworld to get a heater.
  11. Enjoy, ride safe and watch the weather!
  12. What a day! Spit of rain when we left this morning and that was it. Cool enough for liners for the first tank then really got serious about warming up! Montana was 93 in the areas we drove in, real nice. We get to camp! Set up behind the Best Western in Shelby Mt. What a great ride through the mountains. 454 miles today. Be at the reunion tomorrow in the afternoon.
  13. Been here in Rugby (just north of Idaho Falls) for 4hours now. No issues this time as we beat everything. Big storm blew over here got a couple of pics Marilyn will put on Facebook later. That's the only camera we have. Supper is ate, its nice to kick back real early and not worry for a bit.
  14. Lol I think that's taken isn't it! Well we did 410 or so miles today. Spectacular views of canyons vistas mesas funnel clouds and really neat thunder heads! Did he say funnel clouds!? Yep wicked storm chased us cross country for over thirty miles before it gave up! That storm had tornado come down for a bit then go up but it was still black as all get out! The second one was up on back side of a mountain and we were driving through the valley. Got wet but it really wasn't bad. We drove 191 to Duchene then 40 to I80 , got on I 80 to I 15 through Salt Lake City. Currently in Ogden UT. Big storm ahead of us so we gave up trying for Idaho Falls. We will be at our friends place early tomorrow. Life is good!
  15. I did skydoc's complete change out as well, very worth it. I have over 8 k towing the camper and no issues.
  16. It's a slow grind for you Gary! I would imagine it's hard to see the light but it will come. With your motivation it won't be much longer!
  17. Glad is doing OK! We hope the pain is not long lasting and her recovery is swift.
  18. Kind of a brutal day! Over 3 hours to do 110 miles over the mountains. Got as high as 10850 feet, nearly froze tushka off! Dodging storms, getting caught in storms bad lightning steep curvy wet roads made for a stressful day! Crossed the Rio Grande and rested a bit, nice views! Did four corners (5 bucks each.really!) More storm dodging and rolled into Blanding Utah just ahead of a really bad storm that shut power off to hotel shortly after we checked in. Internet just back on this morning. Expect more weather today but not as bad. Going to try for Idaho Falls a day ahead of schedule.
  19. Our thoughts are with his family and you daughter Lewis! Sad for all.
  20. Thanks Dano! It would be great to see you as well!
  21. Thanks it was great riding with you both. Are you home yet?
  22. Well we saw some oil! Managed 330 today despite not getting going until 1030! We were going to ride 64 to Taos NM but the change in temp and looming rain caused us to stop in Eagles Nest NM. Temp dropping to 45 tonight brrrrr after heat of the low lands. Rain tomorrow but going to ride to four corners and beyond. I hope we drive out of it. Marilyn nearly disappeared in a pot hole earlier rode it out but bust a lens cover off of her saddlebag light. She managed to yell a warning so I missed it, just trailer didn't but it's fine.
  23. Well change again sort of. Marilyn is riding with me to my family reunion. She will help set up and then leave on Saturday. It's a two day ride home and she works Monday (next). Yahoo! We have been told in no uncertain terms NOT to cut our trip short!
  24. Good on ya! No matter which model you picked you will enjoy being off the ground. Congrats!
  25. In the booming metropolis of get this, Canadian, Texas. I mean booming....lots of oil makes for expensive hotel room! We were camping but for one minor detail, no bathroom! Hot hot but it's a drier heat than out east! Trip plans are changing Marilyn is likely heading home while I head for the family reunion.
