  1. I know one option is the 1.5" riser. I have ordered one and I hope that it will push the bar closer to me past the fairing to where I can rotate the handle bars forward giving me the extra height. If that doesn't work, is there anything else that will give me a 2-3 inch rise in the handle bars? I
  2. Can someone post a pic of how the aux tank looks on the Venture?
  3. I may be wrong but it looked like he was about to blame the trucks too.
  4. The headsets I have are the modular ones that were $200 each. I used them one time. Didn't like the cords attached to the bike. Ill sell them both for $100 total.
  5. I have a set of headsets that I can sell you for $100.
  6. I took the motorcycle safety class on the Air Force base I work at and it was 2 days, 8 hrs per day. There was some joking during the classroom period but the field testing was all serious. The class was required for all active duty military. And recommended (but not required) for civilians working on base. I took it because it was free and have me a discount on insurance. But I learned a lot more than expected and I am very glad I took it. To ride on base, EVERYONE has to wear over ankle boots, long pants, long sleeve, eye protection, dot approved helmet, full fingered gloves, and reflective (at night). Active duty military has to wear reflective day and night.
  7. What was the cost of this upgrade?
  8. I have Barron slip ons for my pipes. I love the throaty sound but they could be a bit softer for my girlfriend. Ear plugs are not an option. I heard that you can wrap the inside of the pipes with some sort of heat resistant material that would dampen the sound just a bit. I want them to be louder than the stock but not as loud as they are now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is it difficult to take the slip ons off and put back on?
  9. My only beef is the arrogance of some Harley owners. There are 25 motorcycle owners in my office, 10 of which own a Harley. I bought my first bike last March. I purchased a 2005 Suzuki M50. Something "small" to see if I would actually enjoy riding. I never had rode a motorcycle until I bought the M50. I now have a 2007 Yamaha Venture. I absolutely love riding. I don't talk motorcycles to only one of the Harley owners in my office. This guy is an arrogant arse. He was making fun of my M50 because it wasn't a Harley. He tries to make fun of my Venture but has since stopped. I was tired of his "jokes" so I made it point to ask him where is bike was when I didn't see it on a beautiful day. About once every 2 months he would have it in the shop getting fixed for something. The next time he tried to joke about my non-Harley bike, I told him that I like to own a motorcycle that spends more time on the road than in the mechanic's garage. He doesn't talk to me any more about motorcycles. I have great conversations with all the other motorcyclists, Harley owners or other. I don't judge other Harley owners based on this one jackleg.
  10. Anyone close to Montgomery, AL that can help me with a carb sync? I don't know jack about engines.
  11. Will do. But it won't be till late July that I actually order the seat.
  12. I use ArmorAll. Keeps it really shiny black and protects it from the sun. I asked my earlier question because I am getting the Day Long seat.
  13. Is the stock 2007 Venture seat leather or vinyl?
  14. Someone did that during our motorcycle ride benefitting Camp Smile A Mile this past weekend. They were in the middle of 30+ bikes. We were all spaced pretty good and staggered so they quickly moved to a left turn decel lane. I've never done it. I've hit the horn when meaning to start. I usually hit the signal cancel button instead of the horn when riding. I hate that because I love the sound of my 138 decibel horn.
  15. I only unbolted the back of the grab bars and installed the provided longer bolt. Where the arm rests attach to the grab bar is a bit tricky for me to drill. It is on the slightly angled section of the grab bar. I installed the second arm rest really quickly after I learned from my mistake on the first on. I just have to fix the first one now.
  16. Half finished. I had to stop yesterday due to rain. I should finish it today.
  17. Thanks. I found them. But I only needed to slightly shift the trunk back after removing the 6 bolts. No need to disconnect the wiring. Only enough space needed to remove the grab bar bolt to install the arm rests. It sucks when you drill a hole in the grab bar in the wrong place. Stupid me.
  18. I have tried to remove the trunk because it is easier to install Carbon One's arm rests with the trunk off. I've removed the 2 bolts on each side just above the side bags. There is something else holding it on and I can't find them. Please help. Pics would be even better.
  19. I am looking for some small side bags that would attach to the OEM passenger grab bars. Something to my girlfriend's phone, snacks, etc. Something that would be readily accessible while riding. I saw some pouches on Larry's bike when he posted pics of his arm rests.
  20. Do they make highway pegs for the passenger rider? My girlfriend said she would like to move her legs out slightly. This would allow her to move her feet around a bit more and catch some air to help keep cooler on those hot summer rides.
  21. They put them in the box the Baron's came in. They kept them for over a month. I went back this past Thurs. I have a bad habit of forgetting stuff like that. They tossed the box and likely the pipes with it.
  22. Dummy me forgot to pick up my stock pipes after Yamaha took them off when putting on my Baron slip ons. Where can I buy some stock pipes? And how much can I expect to pay? Every website I've looked at don't show stock parts.
  23. I was using 87 no ethanol when I first got my RSV and was getting around 40 mpg (half highway, half city). I've been using 93 regular now for a out 3 weeks (fill up every 2-3 days) and I'm getting 44 mpg (half highway, half city). Those numbers are with just me (215 lbs) I get around 41 mpg with me and the girlfriend (215 + 115).
  24. I just received my armrests from Carbon One (Larry). Class act. He communicated very well through PM's about my order. He was very responsive when I asked any questions. The sale went through without any problems. I received the armrests very quickly (within 2 days of making my payment). The armrests are very well made and look amazing. After a thorough inspection of the armrests, I found them to be extremely well made. No chips in the powder coat. No rips or tears or discoloration in the padded armrests. Sufficient padding and comfortable. Stitching is top knotch. I will be installing them this weekend and will post a picture when complete. Thanks again Larry. Can't wait to try them out with my son. My girlfriend now wants armrests after riding a lot last weekend. Chris
  25. Seems like people have had to rig something up no matter what they have hooked up to the wired source on the bike. Looks like I'm gonna go with the Scala blue tooth setup. No static and wire free. Only downside is the price.
