  1. Yes. I know that. Sorry I wasn't clear. It won't start at all with choke out. When the engine is cold, I have to use the the handle throttle to start the bike. It won't start if the choke is out (engine cold).
  2. When I pull the choke after I get it running, it immediately stalls out.
  3. Wow. Thanks. Is this something that someone with little to no mechanical knowledge can do? I am a visual person as well and work better off pictures or showing me once. I doubt my bike mechanic will let me watch to learn.
  4. Sadly I got close. Within a foot. Sigh.
  5. Oh and it's "popping" quite a bit more than the occasional pop when idling. I can also smell fuel when I rev the engine while in idle. Never smelled fuel before.
  6. I purchased the bike in March of 2013. Used 87 octane (no ethonal) from March to June. I have been using 93 octane since June of 2013. For some reason, last week I went back to 87 no octane. One day prior to filling up, I used a leaf blower to blow all the water off the bike after a rain. Stupid me forgot to cover my baby. Since the blow dry and the new fill up, my bike is struggling to maintain idle, especially at start up. I have messed with the idle knob on the right under the tank. No help. When I pull out the choke to help warm up, like I've done many times, and start in the morning, it immediately shuts off. I have to warm up using the handlebar throttle. What do you guys think could be the problem? Bad gas? Go back to 93 octane? Coincidence on timing and just need a new fuel filter? Could the lead blower messed up something in the engine or something?
  7. Perfectly. It links to my phone too.
  8. I've already switched to blue tooth.
  9. After installing my risers, my throttle stuck on the hard right turn for a couple weeks but now has seemed to have worked itself out. I don't have any stick in the throttle. I still plan on getting longer bars anyway. But the risers work for now.
  10. How do you adjust your riding lights?
  11. When I full up is when the light comes on. I have done this since I've owned the bike (about 5 months). Every time I fill up it is right at 4.3 gallons. I'm gonna leave the petcock turned to reserve and drive until I run out of gas (with a gallon in a gas can in the trunk of course). Then fill up and see how much goes in the tank (+ the 1 gallon I'll add when I run out). Something just isn't making sense through all this.
  12. I'm thinking of connecting the sides using a fuel line and a hole on each side. HD's and GW's have a connection like that so no fuel gets trapped on that side.
  13. Everything was fine and clean. Apparently a gallon of gas gets "trapped" on the right side of the tank.
  14. Thanks for all the advice. I'm assuming it is nasty on the bottom and the screen is clogged. The petcock may need rebuilding or replacing. I have to wait while they look at it so I'm gonna watch to see what it is exactly.
  15. Yes. I made sure of that before starting to walk. Honda Yamaha shop is checking it out tomorrow for free. They think they might have pinch the reserve fuel line when servicing it last week. If it's not their fault, they said they would fix it for me while they have the tank off. I'll know for sure tomorrow by lunch.
  16. How difficult is that modification to replace the petcock valve? Do I have to take the gas tank off? I'm not mechanically inclined at all so if it involves any special tools or stands, I'll have to pay someone to do it.
  17. I ran out of gas this weekend on I65 northbound (in Alabama mile marker 204). The petcock valve was in the normal position. When I had run out of gas, I had moved the petcock valve to the reserve position and it still wouldn't start. Even after many attempts to crank. So I assumed I was completely out of gas. Luckily a nice couple stopped and took me to the next exit for gas (only 1 mile down the interstate). I put .25 gallons in a small Gatorade bottle and headed back to the bike. When I drive to the gas station and filled up, I fully expected to reach approx 5.3 gallons. To my surprise, it only took 4.3 gallons. I'm thinking the fuel line from the reserve switch is gummed up or clogged and I was out of gas. I just had no way of getting to the gas in the bottom of the tank. Thoughts?
  18. I installed my hitch. I went with the Khrome Werks one. It fit nicely. I tried to se d M61A1MECH a message but I don't think he is a member any more. I would love to buy his wiring harness if he still has any left. Does anyone know how to get in touch with him. Thanks Chris
  19. I called the local Honda/Yamaha dealership where I have my 07 RSV serviced and asked about hitches. They stated they can't get any hitches for this bike and I would have to have one custom made. I thought that was a bit hokey. After searching the Internet, I came across Khrome Works Receiver Hitch. Does anyone have this installed on their bike? Is installation easy? Any problems with it? Thanks.
  20. How easy is it to hook up the electrical? Does it plug in the adapter like I have on my truck?
  21. I really like that piggybacker.com trailer. I wouldn't mind getting that one. Anyone have any experience putting it together and how it lasts?
  22. I live in Montgomery, AL and I'm looking for a pull behind trailer for my 07 RSV. I like the "cartop" looking trailers as they are cheaper and light weight. Does anyone know of a dealer or place that sells them within 100 miles of Montgomery. I don't want to spend over $1500 and I don't want to spend money on shipping.
  23. What Squidley said. If he won't listen to you trying to what basically is trying to save him from serious injury, definitely don't go on rides with him.
  24. He should have bought what I got as my first motorcycle - Suzuki M50 Boulevard, 800cc. That was March of last year. I'm 6'7" and 220 lbs. I took the MSF course 2 weeks after purchasing my first bike. I "upgraded" to my 07 Venture about 4 months ago.
