Simply remove 4 screws around headlight, remove the headlight bezel, pull the 2 screws holding the headlight in and disconnect and remove the headlight. The brain box and connectors are directly behind it. When you reinstall the headlight, be sure not to pinch the wire that connects to it - it's easy to get it caught on the aim adjuster (experience) and damage it.

I read your post about using battery operated bicycle lights. Here's MY solution for cornering, daytime visibility and night-time deer avoidance lights: LED Aux lights I bought from (wait for it) JC Whitney for my Jeep then wound up not using. $44 in 2013. My bike is same as yours, including color and these lights seem to disappear against the bike as background when they're turned off and throw a wide flat "cone" or "fan" pattern to the sides when on. They've stood up to vibration very well, use less than 3 amps (fuse size for both) and are a true pain to clean the bugs off of . They mount on the standard VentureLine Horn/Light mount that came with the bike so no fab was required. I -DID- wire them through a relay from the Aux fuse and a switch powered by the headlight to activate the relay (after being told "your lights are on" while walking away from the bike 1 too many times...). Once adjusted down and slightly right of line of travel (both), the light fan is fairly unbroken by the forks / fender and extends at LEAST 100 feet in front of the bike without blinding oncoming traffic. Blue-ish tint makes them super visible in daylight and matches exactly with my LED headlight replacement from SuperBrightLEDs.com.

That's a Gorgeous Machine! (I'm not prejudiced, much - see my gallery). It looks like my "Old Blu" before the miles, bugs and road debris took her shine. Just for my curiosity, what's the last 4 of her VIN? Mine's 7243 and they could be twins. I know mine was sold somewhere on the East Coast but not who owned her. For what it's worth: I've experienced the same "drop" phenomenon in my cheapo Harbor Freight bike jack: Scared the living snot out of me the first time I stepped on the pedal to lower the bike and it went clear to the floor in under a millisecond. It actually bounced off the jack since one of my safety straps was a bit loose. Thanking my stars I took the time to add cinch/safety straps on and I will always use them with THAT jack! My technique now is to tap the pedal repeatedly to lower bike 1/4 inch at a time - without getting into a rhythm that will make the bike bounce too much. Really wished I'd seen your thread BEFORE I had to change my underwear! Thanks!

While in the US Navy I found that many people would massacre my last name's pronunciation. My family has a "habit" of calling male members "Cass" (rhymes with the fish, Bass). So I told folks who mispronounced my name to call me Petty Officer Cass, or later, Chief Cass. I simply carried it over for screen names and email addresses when I retired. Simple, eh?

Roughly 80% of the time I wear a 1/2 helmet. Temperature is my main decision driver: when it's 90+ degrees I tend to ditch the helmet for the cooling effect. Otherwise, I'm much more comfortable with the helmet on.

Thanks for the reminder that opinions and a$$holes are a lot alike (the reader can finish that statement). What saddens me is the fact that you needed to make it in a FRIENDLY site such as yours. I'll post picks of parts donor back in her heyday - before my relative blew head gasket and experienced terminal overheating event. I own same bike but very stock and blue two-tone. I bought donor with idea of making her rideable again then found Blu with less miles and in much better shape so I bought it, too Oops. I'll try posting pictures this weekend - my Android tablet says it's out of memory (kinda like me before coffee).

Not selling it at least not yet. Thinking I may install on my Blu. Appears to Mount with flat bracket bolted to frame near rear of engine then pedal mounts to bracket farther forward and has linkage to shifter rod attached to the pedal.

It's been long enough since I removed floorboards to pull mufflers and exhaust pipes from parts donor that I'd forgotten I left the shifter on the bike - and, of course, that side of the bike is nearly against the wall of the shed. I've reached my phone down between the wall and the bike in order to get a couple of shots of the shifter for you. Sorry if they're a bit confusing. I also took a couple of the floorboard carrier and floorboard with brake pedal attached after dragging it out into the middle of the floor. I -believe- this is a kit sold aftermarket by Yamaha. Unfortunately I'm not the first owner and have no knowledge. Trying upload again... 1. Wall (left) side snap of shifter 2. Floorboard Carrier and Brake Pedal 3. Parts Donor Hope this helps... Holler if I can snap close-ups of anything in order to give more detail. Shifter itself is just a bit hard to reach due to crap stored on the wall over it - basically I'm shooting blind. I am in possession of a Heel/Toe shifter setup that came off my 89 parts donor. It's quite an elaborate assembly for footboards with a frame going under the engine to carry the boards and shifter assembly. I can snap a few pictures the next time I venture out to the shed... I'm not sure I want to sell it or put it on Blu... Having a picture of what you're looking for may be helpful, thought I.
