    Any trips?

My brother in law and I made two trips to the Smokey Mountains this summer and fall. One with our wives and the other with a group of six guys. Road the Tail of the Dragon both trips. Had a blast on the many outstanding roads in the Smokey's. Jim
  2. I purchased the baggershield this summer for my 99 RSV. Company was great to work with. Arrived when they said it would. The fit was perfect. Wife says there is less wind buffeting than with the stock windshield. I think it looks great on the bike. No complaints. Jim
  3. History note for Big Tom. The ice cream cone was invented 110 years ago today.
  4. I am going to be adjusting the valves on my 1999 RSV (32000 miles) in March. Do any members have the adjustment tool and shim kit they would lend out when the time comes. Where is a good place to order the valve cover gaskets from. I seem to remember a post where you could purchase the gaskets from a member and use his tool and shim kit but can't seem to find it. Thanks for the help.
  5. Bought my 99 RSV April 1st. 12000 miles in the 7 months I have owned it.
  6. Iron Mike that is my plan.
  7. I stopped at Competition Accessories in Springfield , Ohio on Tuesday afternoon to see if they had the kit mentioned in the TSB for the trunk on my 1999 RSV. David took pictures of the cracks in the trunk and all the info from my bike and said he would call Yamaha on Wednesday and see what they would do. He called me Wednesday morning and said Yamaha wouldn't take care of it because of the age of the bike. He suggested I call Yamaha pesonally as customers sometimes have better luck than the dealers do. I called Mother Yamaha yesterday to see what they could do for my 1999 RSV with a cracked trunk. They checked my VIN and said their records showed the TSB had never been perfomed by the previous owners. The TSB didn't have an expiration date listed so they are going to send me a new trunk base and mounting kit free of charge. It will not be the correct color as my color is no longer available. They are sending me a magenta colored trunk so I will have to get it painted to match my bike. Not a bad deal for a bike that is 14 years old.:cool10::cool10:
  8. I just purchased the Hagon heavy duty shock for $469.00 Will be shipped out today.
  9. BuddyRich, I am trying to decide between the Hagon standard or heavy duty shock.
  10. We carry 30 to 40 lbs of cargo. No trailer.
  11. RSTDdog, did you by the standard shock or the heavy duty one?
  12. Puddle of oil under the 99 RSV last night. Oil is dripping off the shock. Called Hagon in California. They have the shock with the heavy duty spring in stock ready to ship. Standard shock will not be in for a week or so. Leave for the Smokey Mountains on Sept. 13th. My wife and I have a combined weight of 350 lbs. (No way am I listing my wifes weight. One of the few things I have learned in 34 years of marriage.) I ride solo 70% of the time. Christina said I was borderline on needing the heavy duty shock. Need input on which shock to order. If I order the regular shock I will have to make the trip with my leaking shock. Thanks in advance for your input.
  13. I went with the baggershield windshield. Ordered it on a Tuesday and received it on Friday. Installation was a breeze. It bolted right up and no problems reinstalling the chrome strip. The extra width keeps more air off the arms and shoulders. Wife says she has less wind buffeting. The folks at Baggershield were great to work with. Thanks to everyone for their advice.
  14. I am looking at replacing the windshield on my 99 RSV. Are most of you replacing the OEM with Lexan or Acrylic? What are the pros and cons of each type? Thanks in advance for all your help.
  15. Advance Auto has Shell Rotella T6 for $22.99 with a $5.00 rebate that you can either mail in or do online which drops the price to $17.99 Looking forward to meeting everyone at Freebird's maintenance day.
  16. I just received my lift adapter here at the office. Can't wait to get it home and try it out.
  17. Just returned from the great states of North Carolina and Tenn. Rode the Rattler 209 out of Hot Springs N.C. Moonshiner 28, Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway. We also rode route 63 south of Hot Springs, N.C. I believe it has more curves than the Dragon. Had a great trip. I am hoping to make it to Freebird's MD so I can meet some of the great people from this site in person.
  18. Carbon One Would you pm me. I am interested in purchasing one of your lift adaptors but have a few questions. Thanks
  19. Leaving for the Great Smokey Mtns area on May 8th with five friends from the Troy ,Ohio area. We will be riding the Tail of the Dragon, Moonshiner 28, Cherohala Skyway and part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Any other roads in the area we should ride while we are there?
  20. I just purchased a 1999 venture from a gentleman in Illinois with 22000 miles on it for $4500. It had brand new Dunlop E3 tires and the maintenance records for the last few years. You should be able to shave some off the asking price if it needs tires or the rear shock as mentioned.
