It has been just 1 week ago that I confirmed that I don't bounce as well as I used to...
Last Monday was a beautiful day for a ride. I used the excuse that I had a Amazon return to take to the UPS store to jump on the bike for a quick 80 mile round trip. Unfortunately, I didn't get to finish the ride.
As I was on my way home, I topped a small rise to see a stopped vehicle facing me in my lane (on this country 2 lane). Hard braking was causing a skid and rather than lay it down, I opted to try to avoid on the ditch side. Over a driveway and into the ditch / lawn, the RSV stopped and that is when I discovered that I don't bounce anymore.
The ER told me that my left collarbone was broken and a few days later a surgeon left me know it was shattered. So, the road to recovery is before me. It feels like my rib-cage is bruised and a few minor scrapes to go along with the collar bone.
Amazingly, the bike did better than me. I'll get it to the bike doctor soon, but it has minor damage.
