OK had my steering head bearings done about 300 miles ago.

I've just noticed the 'top nut' (the big silver one that's supposed to be torqued to 94ftlb) was very loose (probably causing the clicking I've been hearing)

I've now tightened it up, my question is will this have caused any problems (steering head bearing loosening?)

I'm not going to check myself I'm going to have my mechanic 'check his work' ... just wondering what people's thoughts are?

Cheers 👍

No, it shouldn't.  The steering head bearings are adjusted by the two large locking nuts under that.

I agree with Don, but in the opposite direction. That top nut prevents the other 2 from being able to turn loose, so I think there might have been some loosening n the steering head,, but then again, maybe not.

I also agree with Don but it may allow just enough undetectable movement between the upper handle crown and the center stem  to create a clicking noise.
