I have an appointment Monday to take my 06 RTSD in for the clutch whine. I talked to my service manager today and he says he is not aware of the "I" basket. Does anyone remember where the post was that listed the part number for the "I" basket and the phone number for the Yamaha rep. I want to have the part number and phone number with me when I get there because it sounds like I might need to educate my service dept. I'm sure I read a post that had this info. Any help please.:confused24:

Let us know how you make out with the swap. I had mine swapped a couple weeks ago... still howls.

I have to use foam ear plugs..

Strange sound... almost sounds like a swirling counter balancer.... anyway... good luck!

MAIN DRIVE GEAR SITS DRYYYYYY all the time on the side stand HMMMMMMMMM

I Now stand the bike up when home it coats the gears in a bath of oil which flows passively into the clutch chamber=a combo of lucAs OIL 20/50 AND MOTOR kote also lucas oil additive helps with the noise too best yet tried it for a week now well see if its accumulative:cool10:

I TRIED it leaned over on side stand again for two days and WHIiiine was back there isn't enough oil on that gear while driving BUT if it is soaked it sticks which is lucas oil specialty so stand er up pour in your engine kote let it sit for day and 25% quieter try er out boys good luck THERE is in fact a center stand available from Rivco:080402gudl_prv:

This is from the delphiforums site :

Yamaha "I" Clutch Basket #: 4XY-16150-09

http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/ya...150-09-00.html $282

A thread I started in 2012 - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...ad.php?t=74730

See http://www.venturerider.org/modules/...threadid=20185

Note from this link :

"Part # 4xy-16150-09-00 was on the box here is my sick part

Number on the actual basket is 26H01 T-3."

Along the outer area of the basket you'll see a letter stamped in the metal. You want the one that has an "I".

** good picture in this thread of a "G" basket http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...ad.php?t=42428

Just out of curiosity.

Since so many engine parts are interchangeable between a 1st and 2nd gen motor. Has anyone tried to retrofit a 1st gen basket into a 2nd gen?

Or is it that 1st gens are so fast that the whine never catches up to be heard?:stirthepot::stickpoke:

I love repeatable and predictable results.

on side stand when not in use=whining

on center stand when not in use=no whining

guess there will be an increased demand for center stands.....maybe we should do a group buy.
