VanRiver Posted February 6, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2016 Hi Guys and Gals. I'm currently on the hunt for a trailer hitch for my 1986 Venture Royale and have been finding it rather difficult to locate one for the MKII. My question is, will a Hitch for a MKI (1983-1985) bolt right on to my MKII (1986) or are the brackets different? Is there a place that would still sell them or is eBay my only option? Any insight would be appreciated......Or if you have a spare you would like to part with let me know. Thanks!
Flyinfool Posted February 6, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 6, 2016 The short answer is NO. The mounting points are completely different. A quick look on ebay I saw several for the MKI but none for the MKII.

VanRiver Posted February 6, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted February 6, 2016 Thanks @Flyinfool and @bongobobny for the confirmation! Guess I have to keep looking and hope one comes up on Ebay that I can afford. Jeff I see in the forum history that you made a receiver type hitch for your MKII back in 2012 but all the forum pictures are missing.....do you happen to still have a pic of that great configuration you fabricated up? Would love to see it!
Flyinfool Posted February 6, 2016 Share #5 Posted February 6, 2016 This is what a MKII Markland hitch looks like. What I designed and built was to replace the chrome part of a Markland hitch with a receiver hitch. And this is what I built. And some ideas I am still playing with
Flyinfool Posted February 6, 2016 Share #6 Posted February 6, 2016 I have fixed the pics in my original Hitch thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?52757-Trailer-hitch-project-for-this-winter&p=578623#post578623
djh3 Posted February 6, 2016 Share #7 Posted February 6, 2016 Man there looks like enough heavy gauge steel there to aim the headlight to the sky. The weight of the steel would scare me into being over weight. what did ya pull with that thing? A 5th wheel?

Flyinfool Posted February 7, 2016 Share #10 Posted February 7, 2016 It is not as heavy as it looks. That is all fairly thin wall tubing. But it is strong. I much prefer to strong to not quite strong enough. According to my CAD software it is only 8 lbs.
