Saddle tramp Posted August 19, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 19, 2015 I love riding bikes but ain't crazy about working on one.I want to change exhaust and expect that means bag removal.Can someone tell me how in a nutshell to best get them off?Thanks,I'm sure to most on here that is a simple task. Saddle tramp Posted August 20, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted August 20, 2015 Thanks,I did go out and pull up the padding and saw that it looked easy.I just get a mindset that I don't wanna work on it.Plus in August in Oklahoma the garage is usually like a sauna.We had a rare day today,low 70's out but I don't have the new exhaust yet.Now if I could master the radio,C.B. and C.D. player operation LOL.Electronics make me feel old. vzuden Posted August 20, 2015 Share #4 Posted August 20, 2015 A couple of more tips. Watch for the spacer when you pull out the upper rear bolt. They like to roll away and hide. Another is to take the bolts out of the saddlebag. I have left them lay in the bottom of the bag and there are many places for them to hide if you tip the bag or lay it down when you take it off. one more, the left bag may have a cable for the audio system going through a rubber grommet on the front portion of the back. The radio operation is not as easy as 1,2,3. I mean I get the radio to work and aux and the cd. But the preset radio station and going thru them is a pain. It seems I either dont remember there are 3 FM sections so to speak. I usually try to preset one bank for stations the wife prefers around here, a bank for me. But it never seems to fail I get them set and I will have to disconnect the battery for some reason. Then its back to the owners manual for a refresher course. Same every spring and fall to reset clock. LOL On the bags I take the bottoms out first. Then the rear with the spacer, so I can catch it. Then the front and help hold the bag upright as it will sometimes want to tip with lid open. Going back together I sit it on the mounts and usually start the front bolt for same reason. One of our member vendors sells replacement bolts that have large plastic knobs on the end of the bolts that make for easier removal in the future. Well worth the cost!! No tools required with the new bolts. click on classified tab click on member vendors click on Rick Butler look for Butler built saddlebag bolts. $25. Rick is a great guy. Saddle tramp Posted August 24, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted August 24, 2015 (edited) I would pay that.I have an unusable C.D. player I went to yamaha shop to fix things after I by accident turned things to headphones.He danced around and got it back to speakers.Hell,I am afraid to change radio stations now,I miss the car radio in the dash now.This audio system is beyond me. No more car radio's in dash.I found a station I like,that is it.No way I am gonna mess with things.No this ain't what I want.What a waste. Page 4-14 is the start of the tuning the radio...how to. I wrote it down on a 3X5 card and carry that with me. I can sit on scoot and play with radio using the card. Works for me.
