Ok.. A long long time ago (70s) in a land far far away (Seattle). I used to purchase anti fog towels at the auto parts store. They were laced with a chemical I can not remember. They were great. Just wipe off the fog and it wouldn't return for days. I used them in my truck and on my boat. Does anyone recall the active chemical.

It was probably discontinued. If it worked that good the EPA made them stop making it.

I asked the crew on a snorkeling trip what they used to keep the masks from fogging up and I was told the solution they had in the bucket they used was water with a little dishwashing soap. I haven't tried it on my motorcycles.

Ahh geesh! All those years I spent spitting in my dive mask I could have been selling it?

Well it finally came to me. The magic substance is, was, glycerin. I used to buy towels that had this on them. It would wipe the fog off of windows and keep it off for quite a while. I wonder if it will work on my Venture windshield or if a chemical reaction might be harmful.
