rear air shockproblem

Recommended Posts

i have taken the class out back in september i put shrader valves on the lines everything has been good until yesterday i put 50 psi in the back shock thats where i have been keeping it and it does good well after airing it up about 10 min go by and i hear a pop lost all my air and it was a rough ride does anybody know what size fitting it is that goes into the shock i want to eliminate the old hose as it is no longer a viable part because of the dry rot and where can i get the fitting at as none of the places dealing with this kind of stuff around here have anything smaller then 1/4 and nothing in metric i would also like to go to a bigger hose then what it currently has

I read a thread one time that even if the threads fit and the hose works, the contamination caused from the 2nd Gen part on the 1st Gen can cause serious issues. :no-no-no: These issues include slower acceleration, top speed of 41.73 MPH, loss of love and affection, the need for Viagra and last but not least, the loss of respect and admiration of real motorcycle owners all over the world :shock3:... HEY... just quoting from another thread.....

any air oil supply shop should have a fitting that works, they can make up new lines and put permanent fittings on's that will last another 20-30 years

i have checked with all the specialty hose shops around here and none of them have fittings that small but i still need to check a few other places a couple towns over just trying to open up a few more options after what i went through yesterday i got a temp fix on it now but the air leaks down fairly quick about 40 miles and have to air back up just trying to eliminate the 40 mile stops for air

I spent 2 weeks stopping at every hardware store, auto shop. even considered having hydaulic lines made up,, went to junk yard and pulled brake lines off foriegn cars .. finally fixed my electronics,,,, if you find a fix that aint factory replacement I WANT TO KNOW

knowledge is power and I am at the bottom...

The MKII Venture Standard, (NOT the Royale) does not have the air ride system on it, and the front and rear shocks are filled manually. Try Pinwall Cycle Parts, or Ebay for that line. :thumbsup2:

To clarify: ALL the Ventures have air ride suspension, but just the 1983-1993 Royales have an ON BOARD air compressor and controller. The Standards have air ride, but as Earl says, the suspension has to be aired up manually.

His suggestion is to find a Standard being parted out and obtain the air hose from it.

i took out the compressor on mine as it died 12 v power to the + and neg leads showed dead the compressor was locked up tight so i put shrader valves on the lines that worked until the other day the valve still leaks where the hose meets but i can air it up and it holds for 2 mi. now so i aired it up and clamped small vice grips on it work great but i want a better fix and the manual line for the standard is the best option i just dont need the whole shock just the manual air fill line but you cant just get that so i will order the shock next week or actually buy it on ebay next week

I've never done this, but is it possible that the air line that was on the compressor/valve assembly can be swapped for the blown hose on the shock?

no i had already cut mine last september when the compressor died
