dacheedah Posted June 7, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 7, 2012 The bike was pinstripped at MD, I asked about washing and here is what the paint MFG instructions were. Kevin, I tend to suggest waiting two or three days before washing, and 30 days before waxing. Hand glazes, such as 3M Imperial, can be employed after three to four days. Please let me know if I can be of additional assistance. Regards, "Louie" 1 Shot / Chromatic Technical Support
steamer Posted June 7, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 7, 2012 Does the rain storm we rode through the next day after it was pinstriped count as a washing?
dacheedah Posted June 7, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted June 7, 2012 It's bugging me because I have a new bug collection and road grime from the ride home.
Cougar Posted June 7, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 7, 2012 soap and water is OK but do not wax for 30 days. if the pin strip is painted.
Hummingbird Posted June 7, 2012 Share #5 Posted June 7, 2012 I just talked to JayBird and he said washing it now to get the bugs off would be OK but to wait a few more days before waxing. He didn't mention it but I have used detail wax (liquid) on week old pin stripes, never hurt mine.
Sideoftheroad Posted June 7, 2012 Share #6 Posted June 7, 2012 H-bird. That is my only thing. I use Turtle Wax Ice liquid wash but I don't know if it has any wax additive. What I ended up doing is using Yamaha spray detailer. I sprayed it on the cloth to make sure I didn't get anything on the pinstripe.
Rick Haywood Posted June 7, 2012 Share #7 Posted June 7, 2012 I have used Lucas Spray wax/detailer 3 times since he did mine last Saturday and washed it once. He said the detailer wouldn't hurt it and that I could wash it when I got home. He did add a little more hardener he said.
