V7Goose Posted December 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2007 Are you tired of having your helmets scratched by those terrible bolts that Yamaha provides with the trunk rack? Here is an easy fix - just go to your local hardware store and pick up some low-profile replacements in M6-1.00x16 size. Here are the ones I got at Lowes: I know this is pretty obvious, but I thought some of you might appreciate having the bolt size instead of having to remove one of the existing bolts and take it in to match up. BOO Posted December 19, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 19, 2007 Yeah I did that also. Trunk is just a little small for the ARAI helmets. Still gets dings in it from time to time with the smaller heads but not as bad. Thought about taking the rubber mat out and spraying the bottom with something but haven't done that yet, to many other things I need to do before that. 99silver Posted December 19, 2007 Share #3 Posted December 19, 2007 Kent thanks for the bolt size, its one of those round tuit things and this will help. I'll put it in my wallet right now !!! Thanks, Gary
BEER30 Posted December 20, 2007 Share #4 Posted December 20, 2007 I just applied some of the adhesive backed 2" loop velcro over the bolt heads . You know the fuzzy side ? But a smaller head on them bolts will help alot ! BEER30

Eck Posted December 23, 2007 Share #6 Posted December 23, 2007 Michaels craft store sells sheets of "peal & stick" thin rubber faced, felt faced, or vinyl faced 8" x 11" sheets .. you can cover the whole bottom side of the trunk lid...
KeithR Posted December 23, 2007 Share #7 Posted December 23, 2007 I used a piece of adhesive backed weather stripping and scooped out enough to cover the bolts. Keith
