Built myself a basic web site.

Hey guys.

Those of you who know me will be aware of my photographic bent.

I've often been asked if I have a web site.

Now I can say, "Yes I have."

Fairly basic for starters, but I'll expand on it.

Just wanted to 'get it out there' to see how it fares.

Comments and critiques welcome.

I think it's a GREAT start. Very clean and easy to tell what it's about. You have a real talent for photography. I like them all but especially the picture in the bottom row, second from the right, that mixes black and white with the color. Very nice. Also the one that uses the same technique but only the bottles are in color.

 

Now if you want critique, and it may simply be a regional thing, but the following sentence would not be correct here. Maybe a typo?

You know, I read that a million times and missed that.

And I'm such a stickler for such things.

My pillion oftens taunts me by calling me 'Mr Perfect'.

I just tell her I'm not perfect, I just strive for perfection.

It happens to me all the time. Especially if I type a long article or post. I read it several times and then after I post it, I end up finding something obvious like that.

Not sure it matters a whole lot but maybe a small signature in the corners of your photos, basically copyrighting them. Makes the photos look fancier, (if you want to use that term) LOL.

My American made word processer's automatic dictionary changes "ise" in specialise to "ize". In Canada, where we pay homage to the King's English just a little more than our American brothers, I'm wondering if the fine folks down under are more acceptable of IZEs. I really don't know....what does Annie say?

As someone who is afflicted with a severe case of self-induced 'mis-spellings' and 'typos' let me offer you this advise. Always have someone else review what you write. I am gifted (You will not believe the number of errors I find in printed books and magazines and how much it pi$$es me off) at finding other people's written errors. But I have never been able to read my own words and proof them at the same level. Two careers taught me to not be bashful about asking someone to proof my writing and I am amazed at how many of my errors I miss. Anyway, just a suggestion. I point this out only because you are communicating in a business manner with potential customers. Some will turn your obvious photographic skills aside if they see a minor writing error. On a personal level, it is not as important but in business it can be deal breaker.

 

As a former professional photog, I think you are on a roll. Good luck.

Very simple and clean. Good job. I have built a few websites and I know that for my money, KISS ( Keep it Simple, Stupid) is the order of the day.
