What's the best add-on luggage?

Recommended Posts

I plan to take a long ride to the mountains next month so I will need to pack more than the RSV luggage will hold. What are the best options for a passenger seat bag and/or a trunk rack bag? I want something I can stuff full of clothes and extra gear, keep dry in the rain, and not have me kicking myself because I should have gone a step up. Please include pictures and websites if possible.

And in case you were tempted to say so, a trailer is out of the question right now. With 3 bikes and no cars in the garage I don't want to push for more right now. Thanks.

I have the Kuryakyn Trunk bag that is depicted in this ebay auction.

If you have a reese reciever on the bike then you could also put a small platform on like this one from Diamond R

Other than that your at the mercy of how light you can pack...good luck in the quest!

I use a hitch mounted rack. (Their is a picture of it in my pic gallery) We put in all of our rain gear, shoes and jackets, when its to warm to wear them. We've travelled many thousands of miles with it and are very happy with it.

I have the trunk rack bag and it's great and it's great. You don't have to buy the one from Yahama. You can get exact replica's at Cruiser Backrest http://cruiserbackrest.com/yamaha-yamaha-royal-star-venture-c-22_48.html

We have the saddle bag and trunk liners also. These are must haves on long trips.

Most passenger seat bags are meant to attach to a sissy bar. We don't have any sissy's on an RSV. You may be able to get one to stay in place by attaching it the the truck rack and passenger grab bars with bungie cords.

I had seen one for a Gold Wing that goes in the seat. It looks like it would give some extra space since my sweetheart can't go on the long trips.

I like that. Where can I find one of those? Is it the same one that Diamond R offers. http://diamondraccessories.com/saddlemate/proddisplay.php?name=Saddlemate

I have the Yamaha trunk bag and love it. It holds alot and when you are ready to go to your room, just unhook the velcro and carry your bag to the room. Here is the link http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/accessories/acscitemdetail/5/4/83/406/all/1/210/0/detail.aspx

And the Star logo makes it right? I found one without the star for about $15 less, but I think I would have to have it! Thanks.

I have the Yamaha Bag and it is very good. When I travel alone I put a bag on the back seat and cover it with cargo net. Works for me !!not as expensive as the other bags:mo money:

Have a great trip

Thanks. I will probably need to do the same. Stylin on the trunk rack and for those rare occasions when more is needed...load 'er up.

The container was purchased at Wal-Mart $20.00 and a friend of mine built me the lower frame with the stinger attached $30.00 material. I installed the running/brake and singal lights to the container, its a fairly easy to do project, but their are some fairly nice prebuilt units for sale from different retailers.

We also have the star bag. We had it for about two years. We really like it. The zippers are well built and heavy duty. It's been a super bag for us. Sometimes we do over stuff it. It also comes with a rain cap. I believe we paid around $94.00 I think. Well worth it. It looks good on the bike also.

I have the Cargo tail bag. Here is a link to the Cycle Gear store.

It is tough, has good zippers, and comes with a rain cover and bungies to attach it to the bike. It also has shoulder strap and backpack style straps. I paid about 95.00. This is big enough that I can use it as a rider's backrest when I attach it to my RSTD passenger seat.
