I believe those are for a 2nd Gen. I'd like to be able to find them for a 1st Gen too.

Does anybody know where a feller would be able to land a pair of > chrome

Carl,

I have an extra set for a first gen.

I will strip them and buff them for you and bring to Oberlin if you want them.

Something I did to my set was to file off the finger ridges on the leading edge of the grips.

It makes them more comfortable for me. My fingers never seemed to line up with the ridges when I started braking or pulling clutch in.

Mick,

I have a set that came off of an 88 1st gen.

The MKII's have a different profile than the MKI levers. I didn't use them. these.

These have the finger ridges removed and are powder coated black.

I dont know where you can buy them already chromed but..

Here is a place in Medicine Hat Alberta that the car collectors use around here, to chrome your existing handles

Alberta PLating 403-526-0005 or toll free 1.800.887.1439

Or there is a guy here in Regina that will do Chroming in any colour you like, but it doesnt take more than about 200c for heat so pipes wont work but it might be cool to dothe hand levers in a colour to match the bike. His info is Chrom'n Creations 306.347.3288 or email him at dave@carproscollison.ca I saw this at the local car show on plastic, wood, and metal and the black chrome looked fantastic!!!

I'm just curious. do the current parts on the bikes work as they are meant to, minus the chrome? If so why not check out a machine shop to see if either A, they can make replacement parts, or B. rechrome the parts. or C. make new parts and chrome them?

I understand the expense involved. But maybe we can a shop that would be willing to make parts like this at a discount and could be a place all the VR members could use for replacement needs as the bikes age.

I once had to do similar to a part on a F-150 that I couldn't get a replacement for...Just my 2 cents here.
