YamaDuck Posted April 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 14, 2010 The odometer is off also. Measure it with your GPS. I don't know how much it's off but lets say you ride 10 miles according to your odometer your GPS will be less.
Brake Pad Posted April 14, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 14, 2010 pasted a radar yesterday, bike said I was doing 74, detector said 67 so I guess when I set the cruise control at 73, i'm really doing 66. just call me slow polk
Skid Posted April 14, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 14, 2010 I hate that, but mine is like that too. I use the GPS to give me the right speed.....
LilBeaver Posted April 14, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 14, 2010 Hmm. I guess I'm a lucky one then. I have checked my speed and mileage against two different GPS units. I have found that my speedometer consistently reads within 1 or 2 units of accuracy. That is, I am always within 5 MPH of the indicated speed. NOTE that the resolution of the speedometer is only 2.5 MPH increments.
Midrsv Posted April 14, 2010 Share #7 Posted April 14, 2010 That's why I have a speedo-healer. Dennis
jfoster Posted April 14, 2010 Share #8 Posted April 14, 2010 I second the speedohealer....no more trying to figure it out. I look at 70 and I'm doing 70, great little device.

BradT Posted April 14, 2010 Share #10 Posted April 14, 2010 I see I wont be getting speeding tickets That is only if you follow the posted speed limit. Even at the 110 or 120 you can still get the ticket in an 80 zone. Speedo is off approx 6-7% and odometer is approx 2% Brad
Venturous Randy Posted April 14, 2010 Share #11 Posted April 14, 2010 On this GPS I borrowed, if my speedometer is saying 70, the GPS is running at 70 to 71, but I recalibrated my speedometer on my 83 many years ago and evidently, I got it pretty close.
