Bob Myers Posted January 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) Home computer running XP serv pack3, 3g ram, when I type anything like a reply to an email or a reply on a thread my actual letter posting lags behind my keystrokes by several seconds. I'm not a fast 3 fingered typist, maybe 10wpm, at best. McAfaee and Lavasoft find nothing amiss or extra. If I reboot it does not do it as badly for about 5 minutes. Any guess? Kregerdoodle Posted January 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2010 probably the last update on a service pack....... try going back to a date before the last update and see if it still does it.
Bob Myers Posted January 14, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted January 14, 2010 probably the last update on a service pack....... try going back to a date before the last update and see if it still does it. I will look and see when that was, but I have had auto updates turned off for over a year. It's only been doing this for a few weeks
FreezyRider Posted January 14, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 14, 2010 Bob, download and install the free version of MBAM here. Let it do a scan then remove everything it finds. I'd almost guarantee it will find stuff, always does when the others don't. Joe
BuddyRich Posted January 14, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 14, 2010 You NEED to run Windows update. You pc is vunerable to all sorts of hacks if you don't. You may have a keylogger running reporting all your keystrokes to someone.
Freebird Posted January 14, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 14, 2010 It sure sounds like something is dominating your memory. It could indeed be some type of key logger but something seems to be really using your memory.
Bloodbought1 Posted January 15, 2010 Share #7 Posted January 15, 2010 You need to update your PC to service pack three.

jonesy Posted January 15, 2010 Share #10 Posted January 15, 2010 malwarebtyes works well, update it, shutdown, restart, hitting f8, choose safe mode, then run it, better chance to kill if anything running in memory.
Condor Posted January 15, 2010 Share #11 Posted January 15, 2010 May be nothing more than doing a little matenence on the machine. If you haven't already tried it, clean out memory/ tools>options>clean browser. Defrag, etc. Or try check disk. RUN>CHKDSK.
