Something doesn't feel right......

Recommended Posts

I have a carbtune kit and I feel that my carbs are as equal as I can make them. However, I feel a shaking or shuddering in 5th and even in 4th gear on seemingly level roadway. It makes me think that the motor is 'lugging down' and I really need to down shift....but my speed indicates that I should not have to. When I roll more throttle, it continues to quake until it 'catches up' for a moment. I try to use the cruise and that is uncomfortable.......I know this is a poor effort in explaining what I feel...Is there anyone with a guess as to what I may need to adjust???? Thanks: lynnjean

These bikes, both first and second gen, do not run well under load below 2500 rpms. These are purebred stallions intended to run higher rpms than you may be used to. Try kicking down a gear and see how she does.

If it's not that, then something might be out of balance.

Take the beast to the rev. limiter in 1st and 2nd (about 6,000 rpm) and it will give you some idea of how far to take it in each gear.

The rev. limiter will , basically, cause the engine to start cutting out, sputter, but it won't hurt anything. It'll just give you an idea of how far you can rap the things out before you have to shift.
