Fannydunk Posted March 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2009 Anybody know where I should look first? I rebuilt my fork seals and steering head bearings on my 89 Venture. All back togeather, the CLASS system worked the first time, but won't work now. I keep getting an E1 message. Thanks Dan.
SilvrT Posted March 19, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 19, 2009 The E1 message generally means that the soldered connections on the controller need to be re-soldered. There's a writeup about this somewhere..I believe it's in the first Gen tech section. I'll look for it and post.
SilvrT Posted March 19, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 19, 2009 check these ... I may be wrong about the E1 code but E4 is referred to in the following... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=493 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29543&highlight=class+solder http://www.streettech.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=

Venturous Randy Posted March 19, 2009 Share #6 Posted March 19, 2009 There are some of us 1st genners that don't have CLASS, because we are standard, but if we had CLASS, we still wouldn't have any class. RandyA
Yammer Dan Posted March 19, 2009 Share #7 Posted March 19, 2009 Doe this mean the 1st Gen riders have class and we (2nd gen) riders don't???? Thats just TOO EASY!!
Condor Posted March 19, 2009 Share #8 Posted March 19, 2009 An E1 is kind of a shotgun error code on what the problem is. Could be nothing more than a low battery. It could also be a bad discharge valve. Or it could also be poor connections. And as already pointed out the controller needs to be resoldered. That said just about every error code responds to a PC board resolder.

venturescott Posted March 20, 2009 Share #10 Posted March 20, 2009 I have the same problem occasionally. Just open the coolant door and clean the contacts on the connector for the CLASS display. Sometimes just unplugging it and back a few times will fix it.
Fannydunk Posted March 21, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted March 21, 2009 Thanks for all the info. I think I will try taking it out and back in. I can't believe changing the steering head bearings would cause it not to work.
