1. They all work. I pulled them off of my 88 because I went with the upgrade from skydoc...what I do not know is if they will interchange but there are plenty of guys here that will know for sure. Let me know and I will ship them off to you!
2. I have all the stock calipers and lines off of my 88 VR. I am not sure if anyone wants them but if you do you can have them. Let me know.
3. Thanks!...put everything back together with a new/used clutch boss from Buckeye Performance and everything works well but it just seems noisy. I thought I had movement in the basket but when everything was put back together the movement seemed to be what everyone told me it should be. It is just noisy??? All the icons sum it up...I guess I will just ride it and see what happens...
4. Looks like my manual and it looks like fiber...Just needed someone to clarify.
5. Hi all. Just about done with a clutch boss change out and was wondering if it is a steel or fiber that goes up against the barnett pressure plate. I feel that it is a fiber but I want to make sure so I can ride trouble free:) Almost there and need to be. I want to go for a ride!! Thanks again for all the great advice! Rob
6. After further inspection today a couple of posts on the boss had some cracks in them...ordered holding tool and boss. Hopefully will be good to go from here.
7. Ok. I guess that is what I will do. Put it back together and ride it till it stops. After that I will part it out. Don't feel like splitting the case and putting the bearing in that would stop the wobble.
8. It was making a rapping type sound...It seemed to be working very well in the clutch department though. The basket sort of wobbles and that might be where I am getting that sound. It sounds like it when it wobbles... The posts on the boss seem to be "not flat" and sort of off... I am hoping that is not bad news...
9. popped open the clutch cover and this is what I found... 1.The pin that I am pointing at will come out...should it be able to do that? 2. ON what I am calling the clutch boss the post has a piece that is broken. 3. the basket has play in it Now I am stuck...done many aircooled VW clutches but this is way different. ANY help is needed...What do I do now:( Any help is much appreciated....
10. I posted up earlier but no replies...I have a Barnett and it probably has 1000 miles or so on it and it sort of sounds slappy now??? Any reasons why?? Just wondering?
11. I need the wisdom of the experts here...I put a Barnett clutch in my bike about 1000 miles ago and everything seemed great. Now when I am at idle in neutral after I ride it and heat it up it makes sort of a slappy sound??? Not obnoxious loud, but none the less it does make noise. I guess I could tear it down again and check everything, but before I do I would like to hear what you all have to say. Thanks for your input and advice in advance.
12. Got stuck riding in a bad storm yesterday without rain gear and almost bought some off of frog toggs website and it would have cost me 85 bucks shipped. Someone mentioned that Bass Pro had this and low and behold it was on sale for 30 bucks or so for the pants and jacket. Just thought I would pass this on!!
13. When I did mine it was a lot easier to get it in than out...Sounds weird but i guess it is like coming home from some place, it seems quicker some times:)
14. Me too! Just got back from 120 mile afternoon. Did a lot of work to the 88 VR this winter and it runs and stops great. I have a little bounce in the front forks, but I think I will try to take some oil out, I put progressives in and block offs. Over all the ride was great and I can't wait till summer either!! Happy riding:)
15. Been doing lots of up grades to the old bike, so I am interested in a set. Let me know when they come in.
16. LOL me too, didn't even consider a wife in there...lol:rotf:
17. I just clicked on the link you have...I might try those out, seems like they will not break the bank and they might be decent!! I guess the ones for 7/8 bars are the ones to grab??
18. Just as the title says...What grips do you guys recommend for an 88 venture? Mine are falling apart so I need some new ones. Thanks everyone!!
19. I might have the one that you are looking for. Send me a pic or part number and you can have it for the cost of shipping. Let me know. Rob
20. will do, but how much travel should there be if I pull on the front brake and push and pull...there seems to be very little and it seems to sort of pump up and be very stiff...it could be because I have removed the steering dampers. I will have to go run it tomorrow, got late tonight and ran out of daylight...
21. I just got through with a progressive install with block off plates. I have 6 1/2 inches to the top of the fork with compressed forks and a 3/4 inch spacer with 10 weight oil. The question I have is how stiff is too stiff...there is very little movement in the fork. I also have no air in the front forks from the class. Thanks for any info you can give me.
22. I just went through this with my 88. I was told that they are VERY hard to find so I had to break down and buy one new. It was salty, but I wanted it so I bought it. I do believe that I ordered http://www.Yamahapartshouse.com The part is: Panel, Terminal 59J-28221-00-00 Found in cowling 1 It is 165.00, but that I could not find one used. Hope this helps!! I had to bite the bullet and buy this, everything else I found on ebay.
23. LOL...I think when I was 14 a few buddies and myself built a so called cabin in the woods that was better than that thing!! :rotf:I think I have seen a few contractors down here try to build that quality!!
24. If you have yours out and a dealer has some in a kit you might be able to make an exchange...I did a month or so ago and the dealer did not mind a all
