  1. ya... I did that too and almost didn't open it .....
  2. That just goes to prove that everyone wants to "ride" a Harley
  3. It's been posted a zillion times before ...
  4. LOVE it! I'm IN fwiw, bastard-r-us.com is available (bastard.com not) http://bastard-r-us.blogspot.ca/
  5. Three things kinda "jumped out" at me. Very, very rare - only two others in the US Parts are readily available. Best offer hmmmmmmmmm....... ?????
  6. ... unleash all of my my pent up anger for idiots on some poor, unsuspecting jerk if I ever catch up with one. Nina & I were out for a ride yesterday ... beautiful sunny, warm fall day. Two lane road, approaching a hill that opens to a 3 lane, passing lane going up, single lane down. Traffic in front, traffic coming towards and a guy on a small, what appeared to be dual-purpose type bike riding my ass. Get to where the passing lane starts which is a left sweep and then turns to a long right hand sweep and I crank it in the passing lane to get past the "Sunday drivers". Start into the right hand sweep and we're movin pretty good, in the lean, passing the cagers and I check my right mirror for the guy on the bike (he was still on my ass just prior to that) ... don't see him in the mirror. At that very second I hear him on my left.... he's passing me on my left, in my lane, as we're going around this right hand sweep, passing the cages in the right lane ............ with traffic coming down the hill !!! I had to do a real quick steering correction to prevent colliding with him and to allow him enough room to avoid a head-on with the oncoming traffic as by this time he's right on the center line .... geeesh! (it always amazes me how experienced "instinctual reaction" takes over) Gets by me ... swerves around the cage in front of us, goes between it and another car and he's ahead of everyone and gone. This all happened in a matter of a few seconds. I tell ya, if I had caught up with that IDIOT somewhere down the road, he would be wishing he never got on a motorcycle that day! Then, later on, in a small community, approaching an intersection where we had to turn right, a woman cuts across in front of us from a parking lot on the opposite side of the street ... never even saw us ... it was obvious her sole intent was to get across the street before the big truck coming towards us. Nope, she couldn't wait for that truck to pass .... just had to hit the gas and go .... didn't even look to the right. FRIKKEN A-HOLES !!
  7. Loaded Linux Mint 15 Mate 32bit ... everything works! mouse, keyboard, both printers (which I had trouble getting to work in SuSe) , the scanner .... plays the MOV files... awesome! :dancefool:
  8. Well, don't know what changed but here I am in a Ubuntu 12. live cd session and keyboard and mouse are working although I've booted into this CD several times without either working. Not a fan of the Ubuntu desktop in this version tho.
  9. Now, I've been in this computer biz since 1987 and I've encountered a lot of weird chit but this is a new one on me... I can boot the computer and get into the BIOS ... keyboard works fine. I can exit that and get the system boot device selection screen ... keyboard works in that. I can boot into GRUB boot loader ... keyboard works in that. I boot into SuSe and ... no keyboard, no mouse. I can boot into a Ubuntu live boot CD ... same thing, no keyboard, no mouse. But here I am in Windows, no problem at all! Any ideas?
  10. Can't say about the POST ... just that once SuSe was loaded, I had no input devices. busting out the hammer is pretty much what I'll be doing. Can't be bothered trying to diagnose/repair. Much easier to just re-install; however, this time it will be something other than SuSe ... because you're right ... seems beyond 11 it wasn't all that great (as I have read). Thought the latest distro would have rectified things. That said, it also could have been my fault for installing non-SuSe verified software yet all the info I read seemed to indicate things would work fine. What it was ... the SuSe's installed video app (K something or another) wouldn't play my .MOV files so I found something that would (forgot what it's called now). oh well ... guess that's why I am a computer geek of sorts.
  11. Well, I was all "gung-ho" on OpenSuSe 12.3 and it took me some fiddling to get various things working BUT .... When I fired it up tonight, something was wrong. No keyboard. No mouse. No printer. No ability to do anything. Seems maybe the last "update" or maybe I should say "software install" totally screwed things up. It was all working fine when I shut her down last night. back to the drawing board.... Don't nobody fool themselves .... Linux distro's just ain't what they used to be and are quite prone to failure. If you get a good one, don't change it. I believe the "developers" of the various flavors are all out there to better each other and in doing so, are releasing "buggy" versions .... hmmmmmmm... isn't that what Mr. Gates does?
  12. I get a rush of air whenever I turn on the key also .... well, a few minutes later as I'm blastin down the highway
  13. Not in a way you could see....
  14. Clarification: SuSe sees all drives including the external drive which is NTFS and I can access/open all the "common" files such as Word, Excel, jpg and so on. What I needed in the virtual box WinXP was for it to see it so I could access those files from the WinXP virtual machine too. The virtual box didn't automatically see the external USB connected drive ... so it took a bit of "fiddling" to get that working.
  15. ya... it's nice not to have to have half a dozen virus, malware, spyware, etc apps running in the background, hogging system resources and slowing down stuff.
  16. Which simply means we sold our Leesur-Lite tent trailer today. Glad to see it go before winter. Didn't get as much as I wanted but close. Good thing is, sold it for much more than we paid 3 years ago.
  17. Well, after downloading/installing several "flavors" of Linus (Mint, Ubuntu, CentOS, OpenSuse, and a couple others I've forgotten) I have decided to go with OpenSuSe 12.3 As it turns out, SuSe 10.x was what I used on one of my servers and I then found it to very easy to install, had all things I needed and wasn't difficult to connect it to our domain. Granted, the others would have had things I needed as well; however, some I didn't like the desktop design, some I had issues installing/configuring, one crashed during installation of updates, few other issues. I did have some struggling to get both my home printers working (one being a printer/scanner) but they are both operational now. Also installed Virtual Box and loaded WinXP SP3 and got it all connected to my Seagate external drive, the printers, etc and got a few of the Windows specific apps I needed installed and working. Virtual box was a bit of a struggle to get it operating properly but I got there. So, I guess I am now officially a Linux user, at home at least.
  18. I forgot ...... OH NO !!! .... NOT ANOTHER PLEDGE DEBATE !!!
  19. That's only half the truth..... I get wasps around the bike all the time during a road trip and I haven't used pledge much at all on my new scoot. That said, I have been using LEMON pledge on my scoots for many years. It does a great job especially on the W/S. Sure, it may attract wasps but no more so than all the other dead bugs on the bike do.... that's what they come for.... the smell of all those other dead critters. (that's my opinion and I'm stikkin to it, and will continue to use LEMON pledge)
  20. that's where you connect the booster rockets so you can overtake a 1st gen...
  21. I dropped the ball ... s'pose I gotta pay for that too!
  22. I'm fine with it the way it is. It's clean and simple and it works! Wish my boss had the same "appraoch" to the various in-house developed stuff we have here at my work ... but heck, if she did, then I'd have less than nothing to do ...
  23. Can we contribute to the fund BEFORE we drop our bike? (coz we all know it's not "if" but "when")
  24. Ya ... as a network admin and the ONLY one at my work that looks after the IT environment, I must be able to remote connect. I had a VPN set up and thru it, was able to use Remote Desktop but I did a server upgrade a while back (couple years I think) and with the new OS (Winserver 2008) I can't for the life of me get the damn VPN to work .... the whole configuration is different and some of the IP addressing has changed to boot! So, apps such as Teamviewer are all I have now. Thanks for your help!
  25. Easy for you to say
