ok what happened out for a nice cruise stopped for dinner then left restaurant and could not shift past 3rd shifter would go up but nothing happen. it has been loud clunk when I shifted before but now none 1.2.3 are fine but nothing after. any ideas and if you know what I could expect it cost, cause ill have to have my mechanic do work I have no room at my house . lucky I was only hour away from home so I drove it back roads in 3rd for long ride home

anyone know if someone is still making those studs that screw on the upper handlebar to mount your cupholder or gps mounts to.? I know ive seen them before but can't remember who was making them. or if there is some place to get them. I don't have access to a metal lathe

well been waiting as long as I can. has anyone heard anything about a 2016 venture? or was It all just hype from Yamaha. guess ill have to look at Honda gw. or Kawasaki is looking pretty promising too

just took it out for short ride and parked it for 15 min and came out found puddle of coolant under mid engine, followed it to small hole under (water pump?) housing right side of engine. does this mean water pump is gone? 1983 venture

thanks for the replys I checked everything and all normal but tires were down a cple of pounds so was probably just that like I said it was a barely noticeable, but enough to check out so thanks all!

had a scare when coming home from laconia nh bike rally last night, had a deer jump out in from of me doing 65mph 2up. was fine no hit was 100 in morning so plenty of room to maneuver but when I hit brakes hard bike wobbled a bit, nothing uncontrollable but noticeable. my passenger felt it was front end I thought it felt more rear wobble. its my 83 venture. brakes are good original configuraton (still linked) tires are ok will need replacing after this season by my standards (state inspector says I could get couple years out of them so I'm changing them) so what do you all think it could be?

im trying to find someone selling the spin on oil filter adaptor. cant seem to find it on rivco site.

anyone know of a good cup holder to mount on my 83 venture and where is a good spot to mount it as most wont fit the square handle bars

trying to change oil in 83 venture but the drain plug is stripped on the bolt face but there is a Phillips head in this bolt is that the drain plug or is that there for some other reason. this is my first time doing oil myself so I never noticed the bolt before

my full face helmet the kind that flips up in front has developed a squeak when lifting, and when im wearing it its like nails on a chaulkboard!!!! whats a good lub to put on hinges that wont eat the plastic or smell up inside of helmet?

anyone know of a good mechanic/shop in southern new Hampshire northern mass area? I need fork work and brake work, and I poped a disk in my back and cant even ride for another month or so, but want to get the ride ready to go. and I know a lot of shops don't want to touch a 83' im in the Lowell ma area (Dracut)

mmm ok don't know about tha resister ill have to trace wire I bought bike about 3 yrs ago and this is battery put in by po ( walmart batt, and lasted this long ?) but ive had no troubles with warning lights or any other major problems with bike since I got it guess he must have known about putting resistor in

anyone know what this wire might go to? I went to pull battery today and there is a white with re stripe wire that was just wrapped around positive post screw.

thanks for all the tips!! yes its a smart charger (brand new) bikes in heated garage so no freezing but I was just concerned about any charge getting to bikes charging or frying anything it shouldn't. I never leave any charger on any battery any longer than I have to even if storeing a battery for a long time I will fully charge it disconnect and just check it every few weeks or so

bikes been sit for 4 months cause of hurt back. now I want to just start it of course batterys not up to it will it hurt anything if I put charger on it while still in bike its 83 venture. just want to charge it enough to get her started. my charger is a Schumacher I can put on 2amp slow charge?

yesterday went to take bike for a ride been sitting on side stand for 12 days. noticed bottom front tire wet thought a small dog maybe marked it went to wipe it looked like oil so looked around right fork noticed cap for ad unit loose an wet inside cap covered in oil, put on center stand forks appear to work normal, wiped everything down, let it sit overnight just looked at it all clean an dry? now im worried is this a sign something going or just a gremlin playing cause I didn't take her out for a week? did check all bolts and screws all tight anyone have this happen? its 83 xvz12tk. p.s. just took closer look and it is wet along inside side of the ad unit is there a gasket or something behind it that could be leaking? and does that involve draing fork to change ? and or brake lines?

why is yamaha still putting carbs on the v4s wouldnt fuel injection be better and easier?

the self cancelling stopped working on my 83 venture. anyone know where to find a new unit or one that will work on xvz12tk the turn signals all work fine i just like the self cancell for those time im forgeting

yes andy same ones as in your pic. im still going to try them but think ill pick up those 20w bulbs first. id love to hear from you if there is a big change in briteness. cause i want these to just light up side of road a little more for the tight turns where you turn the bike but headlight still straight ya know??

hey all I just got a set of walmart driving light (18 bucks ) going to put them on the 83 . there are no other accessaries at all strickly stock bike. im thinking of just hooking them up just wires and switch that they came with complety seperate from anything else and get power from acess. fuse top of fuse block. lighted switch going through panel next to left storage box , and just turn em on when i want. anyone see any problems with this? i am planing to add more lighting to side and rear later on but im sure those will be led,s ..

hi all .. has anyone have any exprience with a good roadside asst. provider for the northeast (new england mostly) section? I have aaa for the autos but called aaa they told me they do NOT cover mc in new england section. even told them ive had aaa,plus for many years and used it about 3 times and giveing them about 90 bucks a year, all i got was sorrey nothing we can do?? so ill be canceling that but realy want something for the 83 venture as most of riding now is in the dark , deer starting to move, and well i dont want to admit but just getting to old for laying on ground trying to fix things :backinmyday:
