I wouldn't mind running into him to set him straight.... but from his attitude what would be the point.

ANYWAYS....the point of this thread was to suggest that anyone with a Facebook group supporting Ventures should have a link to venturerider.org and publicly support this forum.  Without this forum (and Venturers.org) there would be a definite lack of technical support knowledge.  I've yet to see a Facebook group that has the vast array of easy to find documentation that exists here.

Kudos to Freebird and all current and past members !

    Correct on all three points

I was always taught that if your cups half full you get further ahead in life than to go around with the attitude you know it all.  I like to get all the unbiased information I can.

I have I always said that the smartest guy is not the guy who thinks he knows everything but it is the guy who is aware that there is still much to learn.

Yup....that's the guy that a number of us have had run in with.  Think the admin's name is Sonny.  Sorry to say but he is a Canadian out of Hamilton Ontario - bad example of Canadians, eh.  He was a short term free member here and scavenged some documentation.  Facebook is "free" and like you said he makes profit from advertising but has a hard on for spending $1 per month to get (mostly) intelligent and experienced information.  We all know that Freebird doesn't have this site to become rich.

That's him. He was a full member when membership was free. Once Freebird asked for members to pay teenie weenie member fee he couldn't just quit but had to go  on major rant. Ran into him at a timmies one time and got an earful from him. I could not get out of there fast enough but not without making a few quick remarks in freebirds defense first.

I'm on ventureriders.org and venturers.org. Both groups  have good people and a ton of information. We're all bikers and as a rule bikers are not, generally speaking, thin skinned.

That being said, you couldn't pay me to use Fascist book.  :witch_brew:

:sign yeah that: I will probably get slapped for this one but Facebook always reminded me of an Old time sewing Circle

I have ALWAYS referred people back to VR on both FB and when answering questions on my U-tube page and many other utube pages in the owners "comment" section.. It may not right, it may not be acceptable but that is the way I roll. I really dont care much for either platform, never have and never will, BUT I choose to use both to OUR advantage for as long as I can get away with it LOL.. With all the fake news and misinformation infesting the internet these days I am one who likes to focus on truth.  I know,, I am wayyy out there in some of my thought processes but I still don't think even our own Face Book page did our club any favors as far as keeping the group dynamics going that we at VR had the blessing of experiencing years ago. I know,, pretty hardcore DSCN2925.JPG.73b74eefee7cd169914d5ae2c2c4b8a8.JPG

Tend to agree with you Puc. The 1st thing I noticed was M&G & rally pics were being post on face book instead of VR.org so I miss out on seeing them. I myself have never been on face book.

Yeah, I did check that one too.  No screw mount on mine, it's inside a rubber connector.  I also made sure that I made the connection properly, since it's a little uncertain.  Thank you for the thought though.

There is still another fuse down the left side of the battery close to the starting relay. It's not like most fuses we are used to seeing. Its easier to see if you remove the left side radio and dash panel. The case is a black base with a clear cover which you remove from the base.and has 2 red 12 gauge wires connected to it with white connectors. The fuse itself is a thin blade mounted between 2 screws. In most cases in a little pocket to the side of the fuse within the same fuse holder you may find spare fuse blades which look like thin metal straps with a hole on each end.

Alternatively you could replace it with a maxi fuse and 10 guage pigtail as shown below.

Carl....just so you know....it is the one closest to your place.  Hate to see you have to do a u-turn to go the the correct one.

Anyone taking the 403....get off on Rest Acres Road heading North.  Timmies will be on the left as you are coming into town.

Now all you got to do is explain to Carl @Marcarl were his place is and he will be all set.

GORGEOUS @saddlebum just gorgeous!! We didnt see a lot of CanAm on our MX tracks, Harescrambing or Enduro's here in the States.  Wayyy cool keeper ya got there brother. Would love to see a vid of it running if you decide to play with it some..  NICE SHED FIND!!

KInda gotta say, sorta forgot about it over the years but once I dug it out my head just got flooded with memories. When I stored it I flooded the crankcase and cyilnder with oil. removed the carb cleaned and dried it and put it in a sealed container. Having said all that she should fire up fine if I ever decide to but will likely smoke something  fierce for the first while. Normally I would be concerned for the neighbors but since they have no issue filling my open windows with weed smoke I guess they can share in my smoke of choice LOL

Learn something new every day.  I had no idea Can-Am was around so long nor did I know it’s namesake, as I’m assuming Canadian American.  I thought it was a new company with the recent fad of side by sides

Actually can am was formed in 1972 as a spin off of Bombardier Inc which was founded in 1942, started by a guy who patented a design for the first dual track snow machine in 1935 and created the first skidoo in 1959.

All my damage is mounting tabs on the inner and a bolt hole broke out on the outer. Think a little ABS softened with MEK and some flat ABS will work.

If you look at my previous pics you will see white tabs. they were formed by taking a mold with the putty that comes in the plastifix kit then placed in place of the missing tab, filled with plastifix and reinforced with fiberglass cloth imbedded with more plastifix.  BTW I repaired and painted the bike in 2007 and has held up since.

Took the fairing off, took pictures for the insurance company. Both fairing halves have minor damage, but I’m afraid they’ll want to total it since the inner isn’t available anymore. Add on the windshield, chrome trim, and labor it won’t be cheap. I’ll repair it all myself if it works out right.

Which side do you need the inner for. I may have an extra one.

Plastex/Plastifix do wonders for repair. Inlaying some fiberglass cloth or stainless wire mesh really reinforces the repair.  I even made one good fairing out of too bad ones by cutting out the bad sections and combining the good sections by joining them with plastifix and reinforcing with fiberglass mesh.
