Thanks for the info; I am indeed having issues finding stock mufflers, but I've only been looking for 2 weeks... Do you know what year range I should be looking for to fit a 97?

The bad news is I have it 100% of the time; sometimes louder, sometimes quieter, but it's always there. I got it after undergoing Chemo. The good news is I've had it for 14 years now, so although one of the Pain in the arse side-affects, they all pale in comparison to the only side affect that counts - I survived!

Since you stated you had 8; I'd also be interested in a set (are they the same as on a 97 RSTD?), but are you saying yours don't have the socket and attached wires? Thanks, Dan

I recently purchased a 97 RSTD. One of the first projects I want to tackle is replacing the mufflers that are installed and probably go back to the OEM mufflers. It appears that some aftermarket slip-on mufflers were installed and I am now trying to determine what brand of mufflers are installed on the bike; mainly to be able to sell them, or trade them for excellent condition OEM mufflers. Although the sound is very deep and powerful (and impresses most of my friends), it's a bit too loud for me, especially after Chemo affected my hearing, and I really don't want to tic off all the neighbors when I leave for work at 6 AM on the morning... So any ideas what brand/model these might be? Thanks in advance for any help!

I had posted on the welcome forum, but it was suggested I move my questions here. I just purchased a 1997 XVZ13AT Royal Star Tour Classic. I was always tinkering and playing with my old ride (97 Honda Shadow VLX), and plan to do so with the new one. My initial problem is that the guy I bought it from had nothing more than a single key for it, no manuals, tool kit, or anything. I don’t even know what grade oil or an oil filter number for the first change. So two initial questions to get me started: 1) I’ve seen at least 2 versions of printed service manuals and 3 versions of electronic service manuals and am looking for recommendations - both good and ones to steer clear of. Also, any good sources – used is fine. 2) The only project that is a priority is changing the pipes. The bike has performance pipes on it that, well, are too loud for me. Maybe I’m getting to old, but I’ve got to change them. I haven’t looked closely at the pipes to tell you the brand, but my initial feeling is to replace them with a complete set of used original pipes. Anyone know of any good sources? I haven’t really seen anything on E-Bay, this forum, or anywhere else I’ve looked. Anyone upgrade and looking to sell their originals? Thanks for any recommendations on either!
