3. I found a few miscellaneous items that I have no idea why or when I'm purchased then. 1st is a set of mikuni 22. 5 pilot jets part number kvm28/486 2nd is a set of motion pro tuner, vacuum port adapters 6mm short It's this off interest to anyone?
4. Awesome. I had a buddy with a V Star. He was having similar issues. I told hom about Seafoam . He was skeptical but became a believer in the first 20 minutes.
5. No code on the key itself. I think the code should be on the lock somewhere. Ill look for it. This is the only feasible way it seems because I still need a key for the bags and trunk. Ill try another locksmith, three key is working fine in the bag locks. Even if not a perfect copy at least something to get me home if....lets say the key slips out of my hand abd falls in the the sewer drain that you parked 5feet away from. It COULD HAPPEN!
6. My one key isn't looking too hot. It opens the bags and box great. The ignition is not a great fit. I have to jiggle and wiggle it (the key) in order to get it to turn. I stopped by a locksmith and was told that he can't make a copy of a bad key. You got some trouble is all he said. I think he was upset that he threw out a key after he tried cutting it. What should I do. I was gonna experiment buying a blank online and cutting it myself with a Rotary tool . I think as long as the valleys are fine, and I keep the peaks sharp, I should be fine, but odd like to hear from some locksmiths that can offer some advice
7. Does anyone know what ill effect stuck, leaking or dirty vacuum slides will cause.
8. Saddlebim. I've only heard of the wet measure method here. Every carb I have done has been on the bench. It's the most accurate way to measure. Golgwings, shadows....., Holley, mikuni, all of them on the bench.
9. You also said something interesting. Legal highway speeds. Maybe a trip on s calm day on the highway at 65 can show me wear the bike would do optimally. I tend to treat the throttle like a stuck lid on a tomatoe sauce jar. On any bike I have owned.
10. Very interesting read as I was just complaining about 29mpg on my last 2up trip. Actually my first long trip on this bike. I will be changing the plugs, abd checking fir leaks. The bike runs well. I may have been lugging the motor a few times abd riding indicated 75mph for 60miles. I was just telling myself that I will bee pulling the carbs off this weekend but ill look elsewhere before doing that again. Thanks goose
11. Thanks.I've taken the carbs off many times I can do it and set the floats in 3 hours but I doubt the floats are off so don't want to go through the whole thing. Thought there was a different way of checking. Guess I will have them off again anyway, changing plugs and a coolant hose. Thanks for the link
12. I know there is a write up on checking the floats with a clear aquarium tube, or something of that nature, but I can't locate it. Can someone point me in the right direction. I don't think my floats are incorrectly set. I had bad fuel mileage but the bike runs well otherwise. No coughing, spitting, loading or starving for fuel. I'm gonna change the plugs which will give me a chance to read the old plugs.
13. I pulled the tank and started snooping around. Left rear carb was wet and oily. That may be a problem but I noticed the vent hose was disconnected, so was the right carb overflow hose. Two hoses reconnected and tightened with clamps eliminated allot of the gas smell. Ready for a 300 mile ride today
14. I will look into the weak cyl. I have been taking the long way home from work this week to try abd see if any problems shows up on plugs. I'm sorry about not being clear. The starter motor is fine. Ill try to video it in the am. The starter cranks and I can hear the motor kick in, but immediately dies. I have to keep cranking. Sounds almost like a kick starter
15. Hey guys, just wondering why my 99 venture has a problem starting in the morning. 43 degrees this morning. Pull the choke and hit the starter button I get one or two turns off the motor before it cuts off. Choke on or off I have to continue this 4 times or so before I get it running. Once it starts, it will hi idle on choke abd no problem thereafter. As far as the fuel smell, I smell of fuel after a 15 minute ride. Any ideas?
16. I loved seafoam when our was $5 a can. I told everyone about it. They started carrying out on my local auto parts. I was happy happy until they raised it to$9 a can
17. I like all this input as I am on my 2nd rs but first rs venture. My wife compares everything to the 1500 goldwing. That was the most comfortable bike but has yet to ride on this venture yet. We shall see how she likes it 1200 goldwings, kawasaki concourse, royal star tour classic, naked goldwing, 1500 goldwing. I hope she likes this one
18. The video played. At the time of watching it it has 724 views so far and I was the first like. Lol I also couldn't find the measurements anywhere when I needed them. So just basically measured all the floats abd they were all egual so I just buttoned them up again.
19. If you find that they are plugged. I found that guitar string works best. High E string. It's very thin diameter. I tried brass string on one of my carbs and it would nt poke through the crud. Just another tip
20. Sounds awesome but you just wasted valuable riding time. Get out there and put those seals to work
21. Almost every state has this law, some just enforce it better than others . I drive a rig. Our air horns are dubbed road horns and the electric ones are called city horns. We are not supposed to use the air horns in city limits but with the sound of the diesel engine the electrics are worthless. When I got stopped. I said it was s safety concern. I don't lay on it either. A horn it's used to communicate danger not anger and frustration
22. A bit obnoxious for me. I think ill pass. Lol
