  1. Ok, ok...964 pounds, lol------> I just came back from a night operation test, and a handling test on serious S-Bend country road ways. The SVTC is an awesome night machine...and the star of the night life...are the two running lights, or as some might call them, fog lamps. These things cut the night...and light up the road, like no other bike I have ridden on. They are not just for show...these babies earn their keep. I'm now thinking of selling my Kawasaki ZR7S...for this is the most amazing part to myself....my SVTC handles faster, and hotter, on any twist of the road. It holds a line around a curve, like it was 300 pounds....and you can do tight S Bends at 50 miles per hour!!!!! Don't ask how I know, lol! I don't really need a Sports Tour anymore. Truly...the SVTC will kick your adrenaline right up there...by not being squirrelly as you lean hard into it...., but by taking a line, and holding it rock solid. With this bike, you DON'T NEED ANOTHER.... You can tour...or you can carve....your choice. This was one of Life's more amazing moments this morning....a 964 pound bike that handles BETTER than a dedicated 557 pound ST. I am a believer.....wow. Yamaha Engineering....NOW I KNOW, why you put that engine, in this frame. Now...I know....wow...wow....
  2. Yeah...I didn't want this to be another Nakamichi Wired Remote 'shoulda coulda'! I'm not putting it on right away...just good to have it in the house. Will probably run with standard for this summer...and then, this Fall, I might pull it outta the box and install. Want to test it specifically for Fall and Spring riding. We love that time of year...as there is the color of the Fall, and no biting or squishy bugs in the mid to late Spring. I'ts 4:00 AM right now...and I am about to go out for an early morning ride, for I have not even seen the bike operating in the dark. I want to see how the dash looks, how far the low beam and high beam projects, as well as slapping on the Fog Lamps. I am going on a really good S-Bend route up Highway 10, towards Orangeville and the Hockley Valley. That area has lots of country twists and turns, with beautiful Carolinian Forests. There's one place just south of Orangeville that mimics the famous Serpent! If you want, look up : Hockley Valley, Orangeville, Ontario in Google...and you will see where I and Char-burger are heading in about ten minutes! Cheers! BTW, my wife and I last September on our 2008 Wing, did the Grand Algoma Trip, that you will see in the link below. https://www.ridersplus.com/10-best-routes-riders-ontario/ Let's see what Charlotte can do, on a night run with twisties! Have a great day, Chief... Joe
  3. It probably messed with your clock settings...time zone, DST, etc... I did my update yesterday...left it doing its thing in the garage...and when I came out 30 minutes later...my Serius XM was playing. So...who knows what it resets.
  4. I saw a grey one coming north up Young Street, just north of Hog's Hollow (for those that know T.O.) He did a double take, as I did...and as we closed on each other, we started waving and big *ss grins were both on our faces. He looked to be between 55-65 years of age. Probably the proper demographics to have the money to pay out around $37,000.00 CDN when all is in. So...that is the first other SVTC I've seen in Toronto. There are others, in town, and across Ontario, and will be fun to see them this summer. I hope we don't end up like HD's...twenty pass your location every 15 minutes....not too, exclusive, lol! I want to be..er...'exclusive', this Summer...yeah...petty...but the truth...lol.
  5. I was having a ton of problems over the last week, trying to get Yamaha Toolbox software to see my bike's Navigation Finger Print USB drive. That was with my v software at 11.x.x. something. I installed v12.0.6 this afternoon, and then made another Navigation System Finger Print. Glad to report that the Yamaha Toolbox Software, found that USB drive in five seconds flat! I now have an authorized Navigation USB stick, and I plan to 'stick it' to the SVTC sometime tomorrow, lol. So..if you have any issues with the above mentioned, try downloading and installing v12.0.6 and then go through the process again. I think you will also be good to go.... "Navigation Judy...where is a coffee shop?" "I have three up ahead, Joe...two Tim Horton's, and one Starbucks...which one to vector to?" Love VOX...."...let's see Judy...who do you think has the better dark roast?" "Hon...hon...who are you talking to...who...is...Judy?!?" "Um...er..ah....um...."...
  6. Yes, I've only seen about two or so SVTC's still available up here...and this is May 15! I mean, they can always wait until this coming August/September for the '19's to show up. I think that Yamaha will make sure there are ample units for the dealer network. BTW, great news for myself....after updating the bike to Infotainment v12.0.6, and then right after that, uploading a Navigation Finger Print...Yeehaw!....Yamaha Toolbox FOUND that finger print...and my USB stick is now authorized for tomorrow morning when I initialize my on-board Navigation. Good stuff...for I am heading out very shortly... A working Navigation would be nice to have....LOL! Finally!
  7. There's a lot of headaches too, for Canadian buyers that want to import one. The hidden costs, taxes, and fees are the killer in that.
  8. Not with all the starving Canadian SVTC's wanttaown's, up here....there might be a stampede soon. At the Tim Horton's, my wife already started the harruumph...and eye-rolling, as about three people vectored in on us, as we left to 'ask me a few questions...'. I just need to write down (and I'm going to find your post) your local dealer...and then let any Cannuck interested party deal with the import headeaches. If they want one this riding season...apparently there are still some fish in those 'southern' lakes 'n ponds... PUC, I think what is happening in the states...is that for the V-Twin market, you have a TON of used Harley's as Baby Boomers are for what ever reason, putting their rides up for sale. The market is flooded with Harley's...and certainly is a Buyer's market out there. That...and that the Harley Culture runs deep in the country that hosts the manufacturer. But...I think there will be an uptake. Our rides are now out in the wild...and I can't tell you how many times I have passed by car driver's windows with a thumb's up and large smile on the other side of the door...as well as comments by other bikers, waiting with me at a red light. My wife (because of what happened on her first ride...as she feared...people approaching us as we set up to mount the bike...) is already on the war path, bout my having some brochures to hand out...and then we split....lol. Twice she has mentioned (do you have any? Why didn't you get some when you picked up the bike...you'd better get some...I'm not waiting around while you explain the features for an hour or more!". LOL...there will be a large uptake, when more Harley or other whatever metric riders, see one...talks to the owner...walks around the bike...and sneaks into a local dealership for first contact. I think that this will happen this Summer. The other thing...is that it is a huge investment...and that alone could be the single simple reason that they are not flying out of the dealership doors. $24,000 USF or $31.999.000 CAN is a LOT of money, no two ways about that!
  9. Interesting, a floor bid no-lower of $24,000.00 Whoever is looking at this...should contact PUC in PM, and he will direct you to the couple of dealerships around him in Michigan...they were advertising their floor stock at $22,000.00 or around there. Then...drive that baby home...(you can maintain an easy 60 mph) in 6th gear, and still be just under the 2300 MAX first tier Break In RPM restriction. So...you can drive your great deal, Michigan purchase to any of the other great states you place your hat within! "Ladies and Gentlemen....the participants are posted at the gate....wait...wait for it...wait...(the bell sounds..) They're OFF....John Barson takes the quick lead...Bret Bochanan, moves up on his left flank....Betty Boop, is threatening to advance....there she goes...man, can that car drive...folks..this is going to be a nail biter....Phil Johnson, is making pace...they are near the Michigan/Ohio border...over it...folks...this is exciting....John Barson...pulls into the lead...."
  10. On the right bottom rail, right side? Ok...thanks. I'm just waiting until Charlotte updates...and then will go and pull out the USB and take a look. I'll post to this thread what I see there. With my VIN ending in 042, I'd imagine it is the earliest month of production. Let me take a look in a short while...and we'll see when she was born... She came into this world in the month of June, 2017 Joe
  11. Hi American, Yes, you piqued my interest in your discussing this product. I looked around, and it is quite hard to find, if at all. I did find some place in Northern Ontario that is selling it, but for the huge commercial jug. It was very expensive, their asking price. Just do a search in Canada for your product...and I'm sure you will find the couple of places that SAY, they have it in stock. I say SAY...so be careful should you wish to persue that. Mother's Beautification products have a great rep...and I have used them on all my bikes, for as long as I have been aware of the company. I can (through use) very much recommend any of their products, the pre-cleaner, the glaze, and sealer, and the Mother's hard pure Carnauba. They (Mother's) call it on their different product plastic bottles, the 1 and 2 and 3 step beautification and protection system. I think you can get all Mother's products pretty much anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. BTW, where on the bike to you see the date of manufacture plate or sticker? You can't view the headstock, where it usually is. Right now, I'm installing Infotainment v12.0.6. as I type.
  12. Oh, it's just 'ya go, with what you know'. That's all. I can just sip a coffee and STARE at the SVTC....they did an amazing job in the flow and design of all the bodywork. And oh...God bless them, for only needing 10 minutes to RE and RE the air filter. Sometimes I still need to pinch myself...that I no longer need to strip half the bike down, to try and even get to the air filter, on well, you know...that 'other' model...
  13. I polished it , to the tune that you can now shave yourself in the paint's reflection. Then...went for a ride!
  14. I ordered one last weekend. I didn't want to chance it, that it would be discontinued, or for whatever reason, it would not be around in one year. I now have it, so all is good for a future install.
  15. I agree in all that you stated. It's nice to have the manual as PDF, but you can't beat a hard copy. I agree...
  16. My paint blemish issues, have been corrected by some old-fashioned, muscle 'n wax. So, my Paint Woes, have been solved.
  17. So you and I both blew $89.00 huh? LOL I JUST ordered the printed copy....sheesh!
  18. Good to read. I'll do the same this weekend. Then I will try again to get my Navigation and Maps up and running.
  19. I got the shifting this afternoon figured out. I need to shift sooner on the down-stroke...while the engine is still around 1,700 RPM. Smooth as silk now... I needed to re-learn for a V-Twin.
  20. OK...so I will upload the download to the SVTC, that I made...tomorrow, and then try to download my GPS Nav onto a 16 GB stick that I bought for that. I should do the 12.0.6 before I try that though...and that makes sense.
  21. Well..that was the ONLY critique of this fabulous bike. The paint. That is now gone the way of the Dodo.... 3 hours of prep washing, glaze administering, sealant administering, Mother's Hard Carnauba Wax administering, and good old fashioned muscles and micro-cloths. I now have this beauty shining away and then taken out for a Tim Horton's Run, with Mama now on-board! I am SO GLAD that I didn't like the new Wing...I am SO GLAD that Honda put out that new Wing...and I now have a bike that is like sitting on your favorite couch, as you boogie down the road...comfortable as all get out!. Feet forward seating...knee angle, now so comfortable. This bike can swallow hundreds of miles, like they were in the ten's....wow. I fined tuned the sound to the way I like it...spent about a half hour on that. Set up all the rest of the entire Infotainment to my liking, and all in all, a great day in the saddle, with Charlotte now looking as fine a paint job, as anything out there...it just took work to get past the Clear Coat defects that hid the sheen and beauty of the underneath paint. But, no more! On the Saddle, I used saddle soap...and it came out looking ace! BTW..the first time the Co-Rider's foot boards have been down. They were up, just before we left for a ride. Mama couldn't wait until the full break in...so I kept the RPM's around 2,000 all the time...and her first ride on the bike-----> She went NUTS over it! I had set up Dual Zone before we left...and she had a blast switching around from USB, FM, Sat Radio, and then we contacted a Big Rig on Channel 19...and he freaked out, when he found out it was the bike behind him...and then my wife said hello...and he started laughing...in how fantastic this tech all was....we had a great talk as we Party Line'ed down the road, the three of us. It is so cool...so cool that Dee-Dee can mike up on the C.B. and be part of the conversation. I can't wait until we see our Wing friends...and they hear her, as well as me. There will be more SVTC's out the door, LOLOLOLOL! What...a....BLAST! Have to now just crank up 1,000 miles...so she and I can get the heck outta Dodge! Boise, Idaho...hang on...WE'RE COMING! ----------------------------------------------------------------zoom----------------------------------------------------------------> Boise. Post Edit..."She asked me on the Intercom..."Hon...what HEAT, were they all talking about?!?!? I dunno....do you feel any? No...I have tons of cool air all around me. Well...I have the the upper and lower wind deflectors just bringing in some air on a mild angle, and I also have the two lower foot vents also open." That was our 'engine heat' conversation. It lasted all of 12.6 seconds! Like I said....WHAT HEAT? You can have a tornado happening on the bike, if you wish to ride within one, yep...you sure can....lol. What a fabulous ride this bike is, in sheer comfort, and amenities! Here she is...all spiffed and spoofed...now Charlotte looks as good as my 2008 Wing ever did...and for that...I am now,...a 100 percent satisfied, SVTC owner and purchaser. Post Edit: "I just have to say...after about two weeks of riding my SVTC, this is the best Tour Class motorcycle, I have ever owned. All the way back to 1969....the best! I am so glad that I decided to invest in one." Joe
  22. I'm just about to go out for a wash and ride. I will get that info while doing that and post later. I GOT to get past the 600 miles service...so I can go somewhere!!!! Post Edit: I can't see the head stock at all...where do you look to find out the date of manufacture?!?
  23. Up here in the land of the north, in Ontario, a favorite technique of the O.P.P. (Official Party Poopers) is to have a spotter on an overpass over the main 401 highway, just east or north (depending on what direction they are working in....) of a Service Plaza, and as people, who just had a pee break, a coffee and doughnut, whatever...are happily honking it back onto Highway 401, they have the spotter nail them at 120 KM (70 mph) or more...and then pass that info off to the two or three chaser cars waiting down the highway to nail them. This happens a lot around Woodstock and London, Ont. So, in Ontario, when you DO see a LEO with a customer, you naturally think there are two other's lurking around...or even just down the shoulder, waitin' on ya.... The H401 speed limit default is 100 KM's...(62 mph), and only there at that speed for fine generation. It will never change. If Ontario drivers see an O.P.P. with a customer, most spook and slow down, including myself...yep. They work as wolf packs....especially after the sun goes down.
  24. It was Yamaha that told me that...lol. My blood pressure is truly not through the roof. Yep, I'm enjoying the bike now. All of it was the weirdest thing I have ever been involved with in the simple purchase of a motorcycle. But...water past the bridge. Agent 042 over and out, lol! Barbara Feldon...where are you?!?!?
  25. "Ok..so I'll answer to; "Calling 042, calling 042, where are you?!?!?"
