  1. Guys 'n Gals...having fun with this piece...:
  2. ....had a great ride...beautiful early morning start. 53-55 F....needed some heated seat and grip lovin'...some low lying fog, near Grimsby, but that soon cleared out to a star filled nights-cape. Had some breakfast in Kingston, then headed for what I thought was going to be a non-eventful crossing. Wrong...they are repaving/rebuilding lane-ways...and quite frankly, in late May, on a Tuesday, didn't think there EVER was going to be enough traffic volume to worry much about anything. Wrong again! So....enjoyed the Thousand Island Parkway....very much enjoyed my riding time to Gan..and home from Gan...all in great, sunny 82F weather. By late afternoon, when I got home, I wanted to wash the bugs and dust off, from the trip, so spent an hour or so washing, and detailing the SVTC. I have now (in these pictures), a base coat of pre-sealer, paint sealant, and now 4 coats of Mother's California Gold hard Carnabua. I have used Mother's brand of washes and waxes for years. Have had great luck in them. I then did a chrome and nickel plate polish of all that glitters. So the following pics, are just after I went in for a glass of water...and then back out, to put stuff away. Going up north somewhere on Friday...and on Saturday, have Charlotte booked in for her 600 mile (I am way past that...closer to the full 1000 mile release from break in.) I can't tell you how much, this bike has generated as a topic of conversion, not only from other biker's naturally, but even from the general public...or older chaps that come up to me, with a tear in their virtual eye, telling me how much my motorcycle reminds them of this or that Muscle Car, of their youth. I always get that it is a very attractive bike...and so, kudo's to the Yamaha design team for the flow and the Tupperware. Anyways, thought to share a few pics of how Charlotte looks, cleaned up. I certainly have no issues with any square inch of the factory paint job. Just too bad that my first view...was less than happy. Was it the dealer's employee that added scratches and swirls to the Clear Coat? Was it the guy at the factory? That, I'll never know...but at least in ownership so far...all imperfections have been buffed out. Yes..I own it...so my view is probably biased...but honestly...I think it is a very, very beautiful bike, from the tip of the Shark' Head, to the drop off of the Tour Trunk. A most handsome bike! Post Edit: "I've decided to, at the 600 mile service to have them put in the YamaLube Full Synthetic, 15W50. I'm keeping this bike, for a long....long....long time, and want her life's blood started off, out of break in...just what she is going to have coursing through her veins, for Life!"
  3. Thanks, Chief! Just about to turn off the computer and head out the door. I sure could use that gorgeous Java Cup, you just installed. Yeah..yeah...gonna have to look into that as well... Enjoy the next few days, yourself. Over 'n out...Vermont awaits...before the kiddies and campers spoil it....(LOL!) Joe
  4. "Now Donkey...keep those hoofs off of the paint...c'mon...sit still, for goodness's sakes!" Shreck
  5. Respectively read, and noted. Puc, you have (and other's) every and all rights to how the 2018 release impacted you. Pretty much the same feelings for myself and my wife regarding our waiting for the 'new Wing' reveal'. All of us, our own personal sense or manufacturer 'betrayal Have a great next few days... Yeah...I easily get it...whether on a dedicated Wing forum...or on a dedicated Yamaha Venture franchise forum. Easily understood....
  6. Talking about 2018 Yamaha Star Ventures..... Off for some Hills and mountains of Vermont...in about 15 minutes! Well...a stop first at a Timmies...THAT is tradition! I'll let those fabulous running lights, carve out the road ahead...Highway 401, to Gananoque, then over through New York...and then over to 'them thar hills of Maple Syrup Country! Take care...and have your own fun, these next few days! Your post has me in a singing mood; "I'm gonna preach it in the mountains, I'm gonna preach it to the plains, I'm gonna preach it to the starry sky, I'm gonna witness for the Saints!" Love that spiritual....yeah..I like Gospel. Sounds great coming off of a banjo! Gospel Joe
  7. Yeppers, while I have used the first setting of hose wand car washes on the ZR7S, and the 2008 GoldWing...for this bike..stuffed with all these electronic this and that modules...nope. Will only use the municipal water pressure from the garden hose. Off for a four day adventure...and signing off...heading for the hills and mountains of Vermont, through Gananoque. Suppose to be wicked beautiful weather around the Great Lakes area and all of Ontario and neighboring States, over the next four days...gobs of sunshine, mostly zero chance of rain! Finally! Y'all have a safe fun-filled next four days! Cheers!
  8. It's 12:45 AM, have finished packing Charlotte the SVTC, under a gorgeous star-filled night sky, and we are on our way to a quick coffee 'n cream cheese bagel for myself, and a full tank of Shell Premium Nitro Plus for her. Headed for Eastern Ontario and possible crossing over into Vermont, via through New York, at Gananoque, Ontario. By the time we get back, we will be well over the 600 mile oil change, that that's ok...if I get the change at a few hundred over...ce' levie! Let's see...packed my personal kit...razor, travelling shave cream, tooth brush, cologne, toothpaste, floss sun tan lotion, so...good there. Items: Sunglasses Rain Gear I-pad Cell phone Sandals for walking about... Emergency logic start code! Binoculars 16 GB's of rock 'n roll, Cord for my helmet...can't be without C.B.! Look's like we are good to go! Great weather predicted for the next four days, and taking advantage of it! All you folks, have a great next four days... Charlotte 3, the SVTC (nice rhyme to that...lol!) and Joe, signing off for some alone time... Cheers!
  9. OK, there's one thing I don't get in all this, American...and that is...if you used the value, and the agreed upon value as part payment for the SVTC, and then the dealer does NOT pay off the loan...then (am I wrong?!?) technically, YOU still own , or are responsible for that bike...and the dealer in essence did NOT 'accept' the bike as part payment. Would you not be able right now, to demand that bike back...pay out the difference as cash, or another line of credit on your SVTC...and then when you have the HD back in your control...sell it...for whatever you can get...and then pay back the 'bridge' loan whatever you glean? At least you have a chance to recover some money from the lien bike. If they go under...that bike is now part of the Bankruptcy...and its value will go out to secured investors...you need to get that bike out of that dealership, by hook or crook!
  10. Don't dribble...you KNOW that coffee stains clash with the color, red! Seriously...looks great. Enjoy!
  11. BluSky..this isn't just...an opinion...he is showing you...that by merely sitting a 160 pound rider on the bike...showing you...the shocks collapse..and sit bottomed out...this is not merely...an opinion. This is eye-witness metrics! Now add my 270 pounds, my wife's 135 pounds, full gear, even in those reduced side and top trunk....oh lord, we'd be riding like a Sherman Tank. I have my SVTC at 4.5 or about half of its travel..and the bike doesn't even settle upon the suspension. No one should have to ride their bike to a 3rd party to GET a suspension that has travel for the intended purpose. This was just one of the reasons, I did not go again with a 2018 Wing...
  12. This video reveal alone, would have been one reason that I passed on this 'Wing' version. There were more reasons...but this alone, would have been fatal in the decision to purchase ramp up.... Your bike gets delivered to the Honda dealer in the crate...they open the crate...new bike...new suspension parts...and you can now ride that bike down to this chap, and for an extra $2,800.00, over your out-the-dealer-door, you can have a suspension that actually suspends... wow...that is soooo cool...(fail). Joe
  13. We would have, in a heartbeat. We simply did not want anything to do with the 2018 Wing. As for V-Twins...being that I never had one...if the SVTC would have been a liquid cooled V-4 Max...I know that I would be raving on about that bike...and I know it. When something pleases me...I publish the fact! I just through circumstance, now know...that I LOVE everything about the ride, feel-in-travel, sound envelope, of a V-Twin..so now that I am aware of that...I most likely will stay with a V-Twin until I can't ride due to infirmity, or gross illness. But again, would I have gone with a V-4 Max 1700 cc SVTC...yep. Yep. I ran with multi cylinder'ed , liquid cooling for decades....and I would have merely added the Yamaha moniker to the history list.....
  14. "now if it were an SVCT V4...... then I'd be all over it." LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL------------------------------------------>LOLOLOLOLOL! That post, made my day...what a hoot! Touche! Touche! Thanks for where to look...and I'll try to fit some stuff in, in the future. I might be having to be moving down to Denver, Colorado within the next many months...due to my advancement of career. My wife is not too happy about that...at all...but she is a team player, and knows this decision would have been (with her), much 'chew the cud' over. The one good thing...is that I would be much closer to my retirement agenda...back to the Phoenix area...either Fountain Hills, or Apache Junction...and be able to ride every day of the year. THAT is what I am after. I am done...absolutely DONE, with snow flakes....especially in retirement. I'm not going to have my bike sit in the garage for 5 months of the year....when paying for 12 months of insurance. Nope.... Five more years...and Fountain Hills...(hopefully) here we come...! The only one thing that I would regret leaving Ontario for...and I'll bet you can guess that....yep...leaving access to OHIP. Yep...but, you have to choose what is more important...lifestyle, or having OHIP in your back pocket...always a choice. No true such thing as 'cake and eat it, too'.....
  15. Hey..that $600.00, I had to earn! LOLOLOL. It was dumb on my part...I should have just tarped it. Live and learn!
  16. My Social Director, is always on to me about writing down all the gigs we have going on with our Friendship Circle...and I am way bad on that...way bad. Most of those dates have us 'booked', lol. Is Dogman's a restaurant? Is there not a local Yamaha dealership near you Don? Did they never have one on the showroom floor? The one common comment I get, in my haunting of Tim Horton's, lol...is "man...that is one HUGE bike". This is coming from Goldwing owners...can you believe that? It feels in the ride, like a 450 pound bike...all controlled by your hips...and not your shoulders. Even on my ZR7S (of which I have to still install my Corbin Saddle...got it back from N.Y.), you need to move your shoulders and put down English pressure on the grips, that you wish to bank into. With the 964 lb (thank you, Chief, lol) SVTC, you merely...apply glutal pressure from your bum, with the slightest shoulder lean down towards your intended path, and the bike will move and tack off in that direction of that muscle flex. It is that well behaved and balanced. I have to stop raving about this mount, before people permanently start to gag. I think that I am almost in danger of that happening, lol. Less posting about the SVTC...more saddle time...I promise to everyone....starting now.... I want to go back to the Thousand Islands this October, more than my wife does....so I'm planning on that for a weekend. I love touring the Thousand Islands Parkway...and of course...(sic)...planning my butt-rest, Tim Horton's Dark Roast with double cream. This is non negotiable...lol. If coffee bushes died, planet-wide, I'd shrivel down, just like Oz's Wicked Witch of the West.... "I'm melting....meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelting....". Gone in three minutes.... Cheers, Joe
  17. If this isn't a great argument, to never trade in a vehicle, that you don't have 100 percent non-lien ownership of...then there isn't one. Bottom line, I guess to protect yourself...always wait until you pay off the vehicle you own, before wanting another....and in wanting to use the present vehicle as a trade-in....
  18. Don, lol...please, tell me how you REALLY feel! Thanks for your thoughts! As always...each rider will have their lists and needs. Some are met, some are not. I don't agree with all your assessment or assertions, in rebuttal to my own, but of course, neither do you see it through my lens at 100 percent, in all, or selective focus. That's the nature of forums....while we freely post, we also need to read any rebuttals, or simply the out-take of another. I enjoyed reading your take...reflective of my take...and hyper I am not, lol. This is my normal energy...truly...no matter caffeine or not, lol. BTW, I found it most interesting, on reflection, stimulated by American's post...that every stop I made...whether on my way to N.F.'s...or in coming back...if there were 10 bikes in the parking lot...no matter the manufacturer, 80 percent of them, were engine-wise, in the form of a V-Twin. I've never really noticed that...but now...I intend to take my running personal survey, when out from now on. Only for curiosity's sake...and of course, I never implied that Canadian riders are RESISTIVE to change...but only that they might find traditional formats, totally acceptable to continue with, motorcycle purchase to purchase, rather than the avaunt guard. Oh..and trust me...Honda Goldwing riders are some of the most waving, animated riders out there. Just go to a WingDing...and everybody is like a hat shelf 'harry'...bobbing and waving, at anything that moves....old habits. Joe
  19. Although I an not in this situation, I intend to read up on this...power is knowledge, knowledge, is forewarned. Again, sorry to read that you are even facing this. Wow... ------>https://bc.ctvnews.ca/car-dealership-delays-paying-off-trade-in-loans-1.3693180 http://www.judsonecrump.com/dealer-didnt-pay-off-your-trade-in-what-to-do-about-it-alabama-consumer-protection-lawyer-judson-e-crump/
  20. Puc...does the bike, even in a trade in scenario, truly belong now to the assigned dealer, or rather...in Harley Davidson's and Florida law...still be fully the responsibility of the originator of the debt obligation...as there is STILL a lien on that title...and therefore, technically, the dealer can NOT hold transfer of title...and THAT is the quagmire...that might be also part of any scam. The dealer, by Florida transaction law...is NOT the legal title holder...Harley Financial actually is...UNTIL the debt is paid off. That is what Lien Law in Ontario...translates out to. The Lien Holder, has ultimate title rights. That's why they can repossess at any time, if in financial default, by the originator, no matter WHOM, or HOW MANY times, there is title, or transfer-of-sale, that has been enacted on any vehicle from debt origination, to actual payout and retirement of such contractual debt..... or in this case, by American American, I have a suggestion...that you with an attorney, right away...at your side, TURN IN, your Yamaha STVC back to the YAMAHA dealer...in contractual default...and immediately take possession back of the Harley Low Rider...for if that bike 'goes missing', you will be totally screwed and will be sued by Harley Financial if you don't make full restitution on the outstanding debt. Your business is with Harley Financial, as concerns the lien on that Harley. You need to take back possession of it, right away. You then can sell it, or liquidate it, at your pleasure. I don't know if you paid out the balance owing on the SVTC in cash...or you took that also out as a loan...so this could be two tiered trouble. If it were me...I'd be there protecting my access to that Harley, until you can retire that debt WITH Harley, and then go after the Yamaha dealer for financial compensation and injury. You need to protect and gain control back of that trade-in. You are still on the hook for it! A suggestion...
  21. WOW...American, THIS SUCKS! A good warning to all! So sorry to read of your woes. I hope it all works out, and ASAP! Good energy sent your way, today! Is Destination Powersports (by Florida transaction law) totally and finally responsible to pay out the net load difference to Harley, or are you as the indebted to Harley Financial Services? In otherwords, is the debt grandfather'ed to the one taking out the loan,...or is there a downstream (PowerSports) that shifts the burden, if by contract it is taken on as part of your legal sales contract? In Ontario, it is always the end-game responsibility of the original debtor, to satisfy the financial obligation, but can 'assign' that responsibility to another...(like a dealer) but...that only allows let's say Harley Davidson Financial, to legally interact with the dealer, for privacy concern laws. Until the debt is paid in full, either by the original signer...or his proxy (the dealer) it is still the total and full responsibility on the origination debtor. In Ontario, anyways... The only thing a person in Ontario, would be able to do...is take the Yamaha dealer to court for 'breach of' the specifications within the Sales Contract..but NOT for the debt value amount itself. No matter...you might have a fight on your hands...with attorney's fees, and continuing to have to pay down the Harley. Not good, no matter how you cut the pie.... Joe
  22. My canoe, had embedded pigment throughout every fiber of the glass...and it rotted down to the very core. I got religion after that...anything outside, gets tarped. I'll glady replace a tarp every two years...frayed and rotted by the sun...rather than what's being protected by its sacrifice! $600.00 canoe down the toilet...due to my negligence. That hurt... In Florida...or Texas...wherever...I'd certainly cover the bike each day, after a ride...it has to be brutal down there...if it can't be taken out of the sun.
  23. OMG! Are they kidding?!?!?!? I just went to their site...and they have the audacity to call a bike...that has 25 dealership driven miles upon it...a NEW BIKE? Are you freakin' kidding me? I would be scandalized...a dealer doesn't need 3 miles max for the PDI inspection ride around the block. If I saw that on the new stock...there would be no negotiatoins of any kind...I'd be walking out the door, OR....OR...they give me financial compensation for my 'demo' bike floor demonstrator. I saw this...and was scandalized this morning. Never have I seen a new bike, have more than 3-4 miles upon it, when delivered to the purchaser. 25 miles?!?!?!?!?? Where the h*ll do they go?!?!? I would not ever be buying from that dealership. Who knows how hard...who EVER it was that rode those first critical 25 miles...they rode YOUR new ride. Wouldn't be my ride...that's for sure. Wow.... My SVTC came with a PDI total ride miles of 2.7 (4.5 KM's) That is PDI acceptable.
  24. That might be a problem, if you always store it without a cover in direct sunlight all day. Ultraviolet...can seriously rot the plastic and make it brittle. I learned that with an expensive triple keel fiberglass canoe, left out all summer long, every summer long, in the back yard. We went to use it one day...and one of the side walls, literally cracked open. I was shocked to death! Since then...I never leave anything out, whether fiberglass, or plastic compounds, in all-day, direct sunlight. I lost an expensive canoe in doing that! It could be weight factors, as well as cost savings to Kawasaki. The one thing though...that comes to mind...is if they manufactured that plastic to be so thin that it would fail in use...opening and closing the bags and trunk,...in items pressing from the inside out, when fully stuffed...then they would be going to bad press, and warranty costs. I do know that the Yamaha STVC has lighter guage covers on the side bags, when taking my 2008 Wing is being considered. That might only be because Honda had to use thicker plastic...for that model is a clam shell...and stress would be placed on that part, whereby no stress of any kind is put upon a cover that flips down upon the cavity, with no load ever upon it. Things to consider. The top trunk lid of the SVTC is as thick as thieves, lol. Very strong...but then again...they market themselves a tour rack..so it had to be.
  25. Lots of rain around Ontario this week. How are you washing your SVTC...at the pressure wand, car wash, or at home under garden hose, perssure? With all the electronics this baby has...as well as three types of antenna modules...I have decided to home-wash under low garden hose pressure the ride. Playing it safe!
