  1. On my one ride so far, at 55 degrees and all vents and wings closed, the heat was wonderful. I’ll assess more on my leg of the out west journey to Phoenix in June. I’m coming from a 103 HD Ultra that literally roasted me in Road construction stops so I am not anticipating it being near as bad. What I wish they would have added in the info system is an oil pressure/temperature reading but I realize they probably didn’t because everyone would panic. The crappy analog gauge on the HD would go down to nothing and the valve train would get very loud once it heated up at a standstill. Never very comforting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Six weeks or so, going with a buddy on his new StreetGlide. We are planning on camping where we should be camping and motel hits when weather dictates. I’m on the fence bringing the trailer (Lumina XL) too many great biking roads to be worrying about the trailer. Besides the Missus is staying home working to pay the bike payments so I should have enough room. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks for the warning Puc, I remembered it from a previous post to cradle the tank w blankets. I’d be honored to join you downstate. Time is tight however, taking off June 6th to Redrocks, SWUtah, Phoenix, Reno then pacific coast highway up to Baniff, Glacier, Beartooth, Rushmore, Badlands and home sometime in July. Gonna break her in right! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Gunner, I have an electronic isolation package coming along with a 5-4 converter for the wiring. Picking up my service manual on Monday. Was hoping the manual was clear concerning the rear camera. I’m with you, I’d like to be able to switch the rear camera on just for a look see at the trailer. Did you have any luck wiring the upper trunk light to have brake function? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. 105 miles in today on a 55 degree day. Initial thoughts compared to the 2012 HD Ultra 103 that I had previously: Handles way, way, way more responsive, much better balance, much better slow speed maneuvering. Sure park makes parking on an incline with sand on the road a breeze I’m 5’10” with a 31 inch inseam, I don’t think I’ll need Highway pegs, had enough room on the boards to stretch out. Seat was initially uncomfortable around 30 miles, got off to gas up and the remaining 75 were comfy. I think with my AirHawk the seat will be fine. Loved the low seat height and the low COG. Every stop I caught myself smiling. With the lower wings installed, this is the warmest, most comfortable bike I’ve ever ridden. I’m actually looking forward to trying out in a rainstorm. Sound system is awesome I’ll need to lower the bars a little, at least on this bike I can. Only irritation was not having gear indication at a stop. Adding a pic of the Showchrome trailer hitch installation, which fit well after spreading the top frame mount arms a tad. Can’t wait to get beyond break in, 2400RPM is boring. 6. Chief, very interested in your backup camera installation and how it works, tie in points etc. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. That’ll work for your cord end Joe but the receptacle cap in the tank hinges down and rests on the tank paint. A design issue from mother. (Along with inaccessible fuses location and oil tank fill under the seat) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Joe I had leather covers on my Road King saddle bags and they were subjected to far more road grime and abuse, never had an issue with the paint underneath. Although Murphy’s law states that now I probably will. Thanks for the heads up though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I know for sure that the cord cap and my negligence with the cord will scratch the tank. So willing to take chances with dust/road debri. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Their tank bra works/fits well also (to keep the cord cover from scratching the tank) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Yeah Doug, typical small kit but I’ve already used the Allen wrenches for seat removal. It came in the right bag with the helmet cables. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. All is right with the world once more Joe! Very happy for you. Now let’s get some riding weather! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. What seat? All I see is that tank sticker.........Seriously cool! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Torque rpm initial statement incorrect but they corrected it in the chart. Gold without mention of the electric fwd/rev! Thanks for the post and for the training video links Mimurph. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Yah eh der Joe, except for Deer camp and wood ticks you’ve experienced the essence of being a yooper. Now if it would just quit snowing..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I’m a Yooper says it all, Joe! Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Just for clarification, Traverse City and Northern Michigan is NOT Upper Michigan. It is the place where trolls reside below the bridge. [emoji563] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Nothing is as exciting as getting the new bike. Nothing is as frustrating as waiting for winter to leave when it’s parked in the garage.... Hopefully the wait is almost over! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. LOL at the scenario described. And agree 100%. Also don’t like that you can’t tell if the key is on or off readily. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Congrats! With the new Yamaha cover that has the slit in the back. The cover is tight with the back rack installed though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yikes! Good thing I don’t need the GPS to find the dealer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Congrats Mimurph, mine is 000705 and already needs a software update for a Bluetooth issue. Driveway still has ice so no ride yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I did but didn’t see the floorboard mounts. That might be my solution. One of the issues that I have is I had the lower wings installed which mount above the small crash bar. I cannot in good conscience install Goldwing pegs on a Venture. It just ain’t right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Thanks for the reply. That clamp might work but could only be mounted at a 90 to the bike. So the stem would need to come straight out to a straight out peg/rest. Another concern is the crash bars are only 1 inch diameter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. On the 2018 Venture? Didn’t see much on websites that would work without cowl modification. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
