  1. I am looking at getting my ham ticket and would like to add a 2m radio to my intercom. Has anyone else incorporated a 2nd 2way radio?
  2. It would be fantastic if you were to copy it. I just knew that sidecar riders would be interested Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. From experience tires are ok to be put on a narrower rim. My 31/10.5r16 inch tires on my truck recommend a 10x16 rim but I have them mounted on 9x16 stock rims. I worked out according to 6.496 inch section width with factory tire is about 5.51 inch wide leaving a diff of .986 inch or .493 inch per side. If someone who has there bike handy would check clearance from factory to swingarm that would be fantastic. I am really sick of burning through a tire over 9k on my sidecar. 4. So I did a bit of searching and I found out that that it actually has a section width of 6.495" where as stock tires are 5.51" so that's 0.986" wider or about 0.493 per side. Dose anyone know what the drive shaft clearance is? My bike is sitting in a garage about 30 miles away. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. So I think I have found a car tire that would fit our 1st gen venture. It is meant for the British cabs. https://www.universaltire.com/175r16-austone-taxi-black.html It is about 1 inch in diameter bigger and just a hair thinner. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. I will throw the radio back in soon and see if that layer was important. If it is I will try th find something that will work in place of it. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  7. When I started rebuilding my audio system I realized that the screen had a layer of film that was pealing off under the face. Has anyone else come across this Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  8. Right now I have a full set of metric sockets and wrenches and a 4in1 screwdriver but I am thinking of trimming it down to the sizes I need and being rid of the rest Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  9. Just about all of my repairs are on the side of the road or in the auto zone parking lot. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  10. That would be fantastic. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  11. Long story short my tool kit was stolen out of the saddle bag on my bike last year and I need to rebuild it. Can anybody tell me what all was in the factory tool kit? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  12. That's just the thing I already have time and money in the bike with a sidecar mounted and new forks going on. I am considering doing a hybrid build with a vmx1200 head and cam for a bit more pulling power. And the efi has a cople of reasons behind it. One is to make cold starts easer when it's below freezing, 2nd part is that I have to have a project at all times. I would be making a custom manifold with bungs welded on the runners and a single throttle body. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks that's what I needed to know. Looks like I will be going with batch injection unless I can workout a cam angle sensor. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  14. you can pickup a iPod classic for under $200. they are fantastic, i am using a 5th gen upgraded with a sd card instead of the hard drive and it holds over a week of music. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-iPod-Classic-5th-6th-or-7th-Generation-30GB-60GB-80GB-120GB-160GB/382067651909?epid=85892268&hash=item58f501b545:m:mSSfpwaMLCQy1vm0a6vIKtA
  15. looking at the wiring diagram it looks like each plug is fired interdependently. Is there still a wasted spark firing on the exhaust stroke or can I time valve events off of the ignition signal? I am wanting to install fuel injection and i will need a signal that can be tied directly to a cam event if I want to use sequential injection instead of batch injection.
  16. My plan was to run a heavy cable from the right saddle bag to a stud where the battery is now then just a big frame ground for both. It's not a stupid question "flying the chair" happens in turns towards the sidecar. The proper way to deal with this is accelerate gently and lean your body over the sidecar to help bring it down. 17. My Royale dose have a manual fill for the suspension as a backup for the Cass system. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  18. Well first draft will be a single carb swap but make a 2nd so that I can get started on the efi version. The part that I am having issues with is that the math tells me I need between a 40mm and 41mm throttle body. I will be heading to the junk yard with a caliper at some point to get some ideas of what to pull off of. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  19. Electrical upgrades list New speakers (marine speakers off amazon) Fix the air ride controller Dual antennas New stereo Cleen up the fuse block Fix the tail lights Secure all wiring Install a car battery in the side case Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  20. I bought my venture after a motorcycle wreck that almost took my leg and had me in physical therapy for almost a year. Even with all the PT I was not strong enough to ride the monster with my bum leg. Being in my early 20s I couldn't justify building a trike, this was my chance to build a sidecar. This year I put up the bike for the winter and was thinking I would do some of the upgrades I have been planing. This year I hope to build a new front end to make steering easier. I also want to give a single carb swap. There are also a few electric upgrades I would like to preform such as a new stereo and clean up the wiring. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  21. I have been considering building a single throttle body manifold with injectors installed on the runners like a car. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  22. Well I am guessing that the v star is about equivalent to the 1100 shadow that I owned before the venture and I can tell you my wife hated the back seat but loves the seat in the 1st Gen venture. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
