  1. Also more thoughts and prayers from up north. May the good Lord comfort and keep...
  2. A quick question to all... Has anyone installed or knows any information about pulse lights for motorcycles. I have seen one or two bikes in my time that had pulsing type headlights and it brought back to me memories of having pulse lights installed on our airplanes for situational awareness. A great idea, in my mind! The headlight load cycles from 100% power down to around 10% power and from personal experience it is an eye-grabber. I would be interested in other's opinions. Thanks
  3. I'll add my $0.02 worth re: awesome roads/rides! If any of you get up north of the border, look at the possibility of riding the Duffy Lake Road. Starts in Vancouver, BC heading north on Highway 99 past Whistler Mtn ski resort and through some of the most beautiful areas of our province. Climbs to over 5000 ft on paved 2 lane or better for a trip lasting a good day that ends up back in Vancouver, BC. Also able to divert to other areas of the province, as well. , attached pic of one of the camping areas north of Vancouver, BC
  4. Most of us (but not all!) Canucks tend to find it hard to pass up a Timmy's (Tim Hortons...for the uninitiated) but we hit the DQ for a little decadence now and then. I'd be honoured to contribute to the filling of a sweet tooth or five! Bring it on!
  5. Was able to contact a Canadian distributor within 5 minutes and will have a touch up pen on the way shortly! Many thanks for your assistance.
  6. great question...it's all greek to me! Being somewhat new maybe I'm not posting correctly. Interested in hearing answers to this one. Thanks
  7. I'm interested in knowing if there is such a thing as paint 'touchup' sticks available for RSV's? I had my fuel cap slip out of my hand at a fuel stop landing on the right side of my tank and it chipped in 2 places, small but noticeable. I know a tank bag would cover it but thought I'd put this out there for you to comment on. I'm kinda anal about keeping my ride 'purty'! Thanks in advance!http://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/santa.jpg
  8. My brother has a CCT...I'm sure you two could find a thing or two to discuss!http://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup2.gif
  9. All for it SilvrT...just waiting on the weather (as we Canadians seem to do!) Looking forward to being able to touch base with as many Venturers as possible. I'm somewhat greedy and self-serving as I'm wanting to learn as much as I can about this latest ride of mine and this forum definitely is a great starting pointhttp://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/canada.gifhttp://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup2.gifAll the best in the coming season!http://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/santa.jpg
  10. Thanks eastcoaster! I've already checked out A LOT of valuable information and am sure I'll learn a lot more! I'm not much of a wrencher (that's why I moved on from a Sportster to the Yamaha brand) but as age catches up I like the idea of learning how to do more of my own maintenance /upgrades. Thanks for the welcome!
  11. Finally got my act together and forwarded some cheap Canadian dollars for a year's membership...took me such a long time as I couldn't pull myself away from checking all the Sec Gen postings. Found a multitude of excellent information. Many thanks to those who have been instrumental in the promotion of a great, informative forum. I'm looking forward to gleaning a lot more info over the coming days/months etc. This RSV is my latest ofa few Yamaha products and I'm enjoying it to the limit. Hope to meet as many of you as I can. Safe riding!
  12. Thanks to Motiv for the great idea! I've been racking my brain trying to decide if I wanted to do major changes with the cassette (not that mechanically inclined, myself) but the plywood suggestion just might do the trick. Awesome ideas all round from many folk and dealing with many different subjects. This site is full of great information from very knowledgeable people and I'm grateful to have found you all. Membership soon to follow. Thankyou!
  13. Interesting topic as it takes my mind some time to get back that far! First bike - 68? Kawasaki 85cc...one memory, not that reliable! graduated to a 72 Honda 125 and thought I had a monster to ride...still laughing. next was my first Yamaha 305 Big Bear...loved riding so much I rode it through a B.C. winter with snow on the roads...3 times into the ditches yet no damage as the snow banks were quite forgiving. on to a 750 Norton with extended front end...dropped it on its side at 50 MPH after encountering frost heaves on the highway. Slept on my stomach for 2 weeks account the asphalt wore my pants off to the skin...quite some road rash! 900 Harley Sportster...sold to a girlfriend and she had it lifted by low-lifes while she was on a trip to California. back to an RD400 Yamaha...wonderful. went without for a few years...then 78? 750 Virago and loved it...reliable. 2007 V-Star 1100 Silverado Classic still in the garage...very nice for short riding around town yet enjoyable and comfortable for long distance. now riding the 2013 RSV and the love affair continues...
