Changing to a LED Headlamp
sfcrader replied to sfcrader's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks, we are trying to get off work Saturday and drive up for the day. As it looks right now I have off but my lady is having a hard time finding someone to cover for her, so I might be coming solo. I have/had the HID and LED in the girls old lamp bucket. I just wanted a better looking light and somewhat brighter. -
Changing to a LED Headlamp
sfcrader replied to sfcrader's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Everything finally got done today and installed on the girl again. Tabs grounded down smooth: Test fitting to make sure everything fits: Time to paint the back and the mounting hardware: Led light attached to the mounting bracket: The girls front before and after. I really look the the new look. Next will be LED passing lamps. -
I went with the the short antenna just for looks, never used the CB and I can still pick up radio stations fairly good. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?86894-Antenna-Replacement-Adaptor/page2&highlight=antenna

Changing to a LED Headlamp
sfcrader replied to sfcrader's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I received the lamp yesterday: Started the mod on the old headlamp frame: After the first cut I did a quick look and test fit, come to find out need to cut more. Was trying to keep as much of the old housing as possible: After some cleaning a round the the cut edges, I did another test fits and I will need to remove some tabs on the led lamp a total of 9 tabs: Need to go shopping for more grinding wheels for my Dremel: -
Changing the headlamp to a LED headlamp: Just waiting for my package to arrive. Was able to acquire a 2009 broken headlamp assembly for 25.00. Followed instruction found here http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?498-Headlamp-Replacement and http://venture.eurekaboy.com/headlightmod.htm about removing the broken lens. I will post before, during, and after pic.

Had the same problem, come to find out the center tab was not locking under the open in the fairing. When looking at the center tab it has a small lip that snaps or hook under the opening in the faring. Mine was about 1/16 of an inch away, I used 2 small pieces of double sided tape and tape to the fairing open towards the front.

I got us a matching color N104 with sena20 pricey but we love them. Had to get the next size up from my old HJC. In our eyes it was well worth the money we spent last year.

We took a lovely trip around the blackhills. Made our stops in Deadwood and Sturgis. Pulled into the FTS and turned around, headed back to Sturgis. Place is already getting packed.

Loving this part of the country for riding. 210 mile trip took is 6 hours, we stop all the time took some pics along rt. 17/20/85/89. We just can not get over the beautiful wide open country side. We are talking about moving out hrs when the kids move out on a couple of years. The trains with coal that we seen today was unbelievable. made to Hill City, the bikes (harleys) I says they are everywhere and the bars wow. 1 rule that I was told in 1971 never drink and ride (thanks Uncle Mark). Going to walk the city and shop. Having problems loading pics might be to large. Will again later

LOL. Nope she has been real good these days, I was try to get her out of the high winds and heavy rains.

My girl never rode on a bike until we started dating 3 years ago. She loves it and wants to do a 3 week trip no matter work says. Out here in the west it is so Beautiful open roads, nice small towns. We find that the people are so nice compared to some of the northern states. Taking in the country side with nothing around you but the wind is the best way to travel. Thanks cowpuc

Today was another beautiful day to ride. This was a 220 mile ride from Ogallala to Wheatland alon rt 26 but it took 8 hours. Stop along route at historical markers and national monuments. Had to stop and see chimney rock and scottsbluff I love the history of the old west and what they went thru. Just think if we had to do that now LOL. We had lunch in Gering NE at a place called Log Cabin. Nice place big burgers and staff was very nice. Went to Torrington to see my mom and grandparents grave needed to it was hard. On our way to Wheatland on I25 I showed my girl the posted speed limit she had never seen 80 mph. Time for a AW rootbeer float:)

Today started out with temps between 70 and 80, perfect weather. When we made our way to rte30 near grand island the temps was around 91 had to stop and get us more water. We had to get back on I80 due to rte30 closed. Seen 2 RS Venture heading east I80 near North Platte. Made it to Ogallala super8 before the storm rolled in. Make plans for trip to chimney road and scottsbluff tomorrow.

Not sure why the pic is upside down I tried to post a couple more last night but too where upside down and 90 degrees to. The right. Using my IPod maybe that is it. Packing up and heading to Ogallala looks to be a beautiful day.
-
I have found that for me she sounds and rides best doing 71 mph in 5th on the Interstate. On the side roads doing 58 mph in 4th.
-
Beautiful weather not to hot or to cold. Corn fields as far as you can see and drive. Wind turbines all up and down I80 never seen so many. My lady seen her first true crop dusting LOL. Tomorrow we leave Omaha and head to Ogallala taking I80 to Grand Island than rte 30. Watching my mpg after my fuel pump went out. First day I was get around 28-29 the last 2days I average 33 both days. Not sure what to make of it!

Made it Davenport safe weather was beautiful. We had plans to make 2015 Sturgis but our company cut our vacation so this was the best we could do. The points on the fuel pump are fused together. Thursday we are taking RT 26 from Ogallala thru Scottsbluff to Torrington. Lots to see on that road. Pics at rest stop on I80.

I went and got the Sena 20, I did look at the Sena 10. What sold me was the fact that I can music share via Bluetooth. I do not have my phone connected, but my girl does so if anyone needs us they call her. We got back from Fort Campbell a few weeks ago, she was talking to her sister for almost an hour and her sister never knew she was on the bike.

I was able to pick up a new set of Yamaha Tinted Lower Wind Vents, part number : STR-1D608-80-00 from Broward Motor Sports in Flordia for $127.04 + $24.99 Shipping. This was the cheapest I was able to find. Only issue is that it took 12 days to arrive, slow shipping. This will fit 99-13 Royal Star Venture and 05-08 Tour Deluxe. http://www.browardmotorsports.com/eshopprod_cat_5100-61618_product_747773.htm

Had an 06 C50T for about 5 years and put on over 40k. Was a good light weight bike, loved the way I could move in traffic at low speeds. As stated above yes it does whine the highway at speeds above 60. The shaft can be replaced with a C90 with some mod done to it. I had that on mine and yes it was great for the highway. Yes the seats need replaced only good for about a 30 min ride, pull back risers are a good move also. Once I get settled down and pay off some stuff, I going to look for another one. Sold mine and the new owner still had it and it has over 75k on it.

Blessings and hope you get better soon.
