  1. I did a full conversion almost 3 years ago. At that time I could not find a plug and ply setup, some modifications will need to be done to fit into the OEM housing. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?120273-New-LED-passing-lamp-and-headlamp&highlight=headlight
  2. This is email I sent: My name is John Rader and I am looking to purchase a new rear shock for my bike. I was wondering if I could get a quote for a rear shock for my bike. 1999 Yamaha Royal Star Venture. I/We do about 50/50 single rider and dual rider. Rider: 205 Lbs at 5’11” Passenger: 145 Lbs at 5’9” We do once a year take a long trip at pull a trailer with about 80 Lbs of cloths. I hope this helps John
  3. Not to highjack the thread, but I just replaced my rear shock with Hagon last night. I tried to contact the dealer here in the USA but got the same reply. So I did the next best thing and contact the company in the United Kingdom. I sent them an email on June 14th and on June 16th received and email that they would start working on my shock. On July 3rd received email shock was ready just needed to provide payment info, Total cost shipped $394.42. On July 5th replacement shock depart the United Kingdom and arrived at my door step 11:30 am Yesterday July 7th. At this point I can say that the bike does sit about 1 inch higher than before, hope to take it for a ride this afternoon. To me the hardest part was getting the bike up and taking the old out. Not sure it the shock was bad, but the ride was not like it use to be, not a soft or smooth ride but hard when going over bumps and railroads crossings. Even on some of the same old roads I have done over and over it was not the same. sales@hagon-shocks.co.uk this is the email address I used. Emailed them weights riders, kind of style 50/50 (solo/dual) and that I tow a trailer once a year.
  4. A lot of work is needed to do this. I did a small write with pics o how I did mine. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?120273-New-LED-passing-lamp-and-headlamp
  5. This is another thread I started that showed what I had to do to make the LED Headlamp work. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?119811-Changing-to-a-LED-Headlamp hope it helps.
  6. I tried something that did not work. Than I found this website:http://venture.eurekaboy.com/headlightmod.htm I purchased a used headlamp off ebay and used that one to cut. I took my time did not want to rush and spent a complete weekend. The hardest part is trimming both the buckets and the back of the headlamps and passing lamps.
  7. I purchased the headlamp on ebay it was around $100 not sure what brand. I will go back and look, I do remember it did saying Daymarker.
  8. maybe I am missing something or just not looking in the right spot. Should I have 3 relays by each other or in different spots?
  9. How many grounding points and locations on a 2nd gens?
  10. Link to video of my dash blinking. http://vid446.photobucket.com/albums/qq189/sfcrader/Dash.mp4
  11. Battery is 2 years old, sitting it reads 11.9 volts. I will look into the contact switch. Thanks
  12. Hello, need some advice. This morning when I went to work the dash would blink with the turn signal and the MPH needle would go from 0 to 120 until I turned the turn signal off, the headlight would blink along with the passing lamps. Also, the turn signal works but the dash would show the opposite right is left and left is right. . I hope this make sense. Not sure what to do check all connectors lights and disconnected all added accessories even checked the grounds. Thanks in advance
  13. I had really bad backfiring on deceleration; I have check and rechecked everything I have read here and even had a local shop here in Massillon checked her over. The few things I was able to check and find and whatever the local shop as able to do did help with the backfiring. I read somewhere that increasing the pilot jet up 1 size could help with this. But before I do this I would like to know other pros and cons.
  14. I'm wondering what advantages/disadvantages I would see bumping-up the pilot jet size in my 2nd Gen? I was thinking of ordering 1 size up from current stock jets. Next weekend I am planning on setting the floats and cleaning the carbs. Thanks for any information provided.
  15. We have the Red top and Black pants, last year on a ride to Fort Campbell from Ohio we got hit by a all day rain shower. Love them the only water was around the wrist because of the gloves. I think they are worth the money, will buy another set if needed
  16. Not sure, do you have OEM passing lamp? also with passing lamps did you get?
  17. Thanks, yes they are a lot better than stock and take less amps to use. So far no interference at all.
  18. What everybody said and more, thank you Don and Eileen for MD, it was loads of fun. I am glad I came up and had a chance to meet with everyone. I made a lot of true friends.
  19. I just changed nine to a LED Daymaker. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?119811-Changing-to-a-LED-Headlamp
  20. I went ahead and purchased a set of passing lamps from eBay to go along with me new headlamp. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-30W-4-5-inch-Cree-LED-Harley-Motorcycle-Daymaker-Auxiliary-Fog-Driving-lights-/361250657595?fits=Make%3AHarley-Davidson&hash=item541c37953b:g:lnIAAOSw3mpXL-W5&vxp=mtr I found out that the back of the light needs to be modified or find a smaller hollow bolt. I went with he modification, the center rid needs to be trimmed back in order to use the stock hollow bolt: Old and new passing light installed: Lights on side by side look: Old passing light look: New passing light look: All new just need to adjust the lights tonight:
  21. I think modifications will still be needed on both the light and the headlamp bracket to made them work.
  22. Yes I truly agree with statement, and I was adjusting the headlamp last night and even this morning. When I put everything back together I attached the the brackets using the same numbers of turn as when I removed it.
  23. Took a early morning ride to work and just love the output of the new light, every car flashed me. LOL I am glad I did this change, now I am going to replace my passing lamps. The light itself is much whiter and brighter than what I had before, it that illuminates the rode mush better and even along the sides of the rode. http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-MOTORCYCLE-BLACK-PROJECTOR-DAYMAKER-HID-LED-LIGHT-BULB-HEADLIGHT-For-Harley-/161879974964?hash=item25b0cc6434:g:uiAAAOSwBahVSCEm&vxp=mtr
