  1. This is all rather interesting. I bought a Venture Rear end for my VMax to lose power and gain MPG! hahahaha. Just need to finish fabricating the shock mount................
  2. This may help you, dude......... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34957 Good luck! Nick D.
  3. OK, as promised here are a few pics. Check out the Ducati Streetfighter! My wife has most of the good ones on her phone, so I'll have to steal those soon. Also, I figured out if you just choose one photo at a time, they resize automatically. This time, anyway .............
  4. Rub it in, why don't ya!?!?!?!?!
  5. I knew you would pipe in, Rooster! It was sort of a memorial trip for my wife's late mother, which is why her dad came. We were kind of just spending some time together, and remembering her when we could. Next time, I promise, I will let 'yall know . I should be back out there October latest, got some friends riding down from Western Mass.
  6. Thanks! unfortunately I am using a Macbook Pro, and occasionally my Android phone. I will figure another way. The Google machine has a way of making quick work of anything these days. Does anyone know how to make the pictures go directly in the post and not as a thumbnail? I tried getting a flickr account and linking pics, but can't get that right either. I am a mulit-core-skilled Jet Engine Technician, but can't seem to master this picture thing. Damn........:bang head:
  7. Soooooooooo....... Went camping with my wife and her dad in the Nantahala National Forest / Smoky Mountains in NC / TN this past week. Did 5 days, camping at the Fontana Dam Campground. I know others have mentioned it probably thousands of times, but every time I go back to West NC, it is apparent. One of the nicest places on earth. Motorcycle friendly to boot! I rode my trusty 92 VR (BLUE!!!!) to the site, my wife drove our lifted 4runner with pop-up camper in tow, and dad-in-law drove his truck with his vstar silverado in the back (and his own tent! ). Along with some of the best motorcycling east of the Mississippi, we also did some serious back-country offroad driving in my 4runner. We ended up on some powerline trails 6000 feet up in the Smoky's, unbelievable. For anyone who's never been to the Fontana Dam (or never heard of it), check it out. It is the largest dam east of the Rocky Mountains. 480 feet tall and a half mile long. It was built from 1942 to 1945 by the TVA, along with I believe 13 other dams. There is a museum/info center on top, and you can ride/drive across it too. It also happens to be part of the Appalachian Trail. Too cool. In the end, 1033 miles on my New-to-me Venture Royal in 5 days. Ran like a top, just as expected. I'm running the Dunlop Elite 3's, and they were perfect in all conditions, and believe me, I ran into them all. After several runs over the Dragon, Rte 28, the Cherohala Skyway, and 73 in TN by the Little River, there are absolutely no spots on those tires that haven't seen the tarmac. One new problem is the radio cuts out once in a while, tuner goes blank, except for a few red dots on the top of the tuner screen, and some clicking static. Oh well, I'm sure someone will pipe in and tell me what it is. I will post pics later, I find this site extremely hard to post pics due to the size limitations. If someone can tell me the best way to post pics, that would help a bunch. N.
  8. I as well just got back from the Smoky's / Nantahala area. We camped at the base of the Fontana Dam for 5 nights. What a cool place, and an amazing engineering feat. There is a very cool museum at the top, and the dam is also part of the Appalachian Trail. you can ride over it too. I will post a notice next time I head out there, and see if anyone wants to ride. I've traveled the world a few times over for work, about 10 years, and the Appalachain Mountains / Smoky's are my favorite place, time after time. And AMEN to Rte 28 (they are now calling it "Hellbender" i think). The section from 143 Near Robbinsville, to Deal's Gap is one of my favorite roads.
  9. Hi all, Just wanted to throw it out there that after finding a missing trunk lid hinge bolt (Thanks to Golf&Venture for sending me one!!!!!), I checked the rest and all were loose. Didn't know if this might be a problem on any of yours. Might want to check. Nick.
  10. Dingy, is this fix the same that I would do on my 92 VR? I have a bunch of vibrations in the fairing area, cluster one of them. Thanks. N.
  11. Hildo!!!!!! I spent about two years in Helsinki Finland and hung out with some dudes just like Hildo. Nicest people I've ever met (besides here......of course..... ). Didn't give a crap about anything with rules, just hardcore. But would help ANYONE, anytime. They also had some BaddA$$ bikes. The clubhouse was like in a movie. What a trip they all were. If anyone here enjoys adult beverages, and thinks they can toss back a few, try hanging with the Finns. They are insane! hahah.
  12. you people are all so darn nice! Thanks a million to all who responded, and especially to Golf ! I dont have any spare parts to trade with anyone yet (haven't wrecked my venture yet!), but i do have GL1200 goldwing pieces and some VMax stuff if anybody needs any bits. Just shout! Don't have a lot, but some things......... I'll probably list them in the classifieds to avoid any confusion and a million questions. He he he. N.
  13. thanks for the reply! they are definitely threaded bolts. two for the top and two for the bottom box of the trunk. i will try to post a pic. should have done it the first post, sorry, but I was not near the bike, and had thought of it, so posted it. See attached. N.
  14. Hi guys and gals, I just noticed yesterday that I am missing one of the Hinge bolts that attach the two trunk pieces together on my 92 Royale. If anyone has any of this hardware, I would pay for it plus shipping in an envelope or whatever. the entire bike is original, so I want the exact bolt. It is silver and is either allen head or torx head. Thanks and let me know if you have something. N.
  15. Here's another try. I still cant find the whole photo shoot i did at the reservoir. I will continue to look. Funny how I can remember why I can't remember anything.................
  16. Alright, here's my first love (sorry Venture Fiends [and wife.....] ), my 1990 VMax. All built by yours truly. To date, it has: -Full 4-2-2 ceramic coated stainless exhaust, polished dual stainless mufflers (if you can call them that, loudest bike I've ever heard). Made by John Cornell of UFO (Ultra Fast Objects) in Ohio. This dude is THE VMax authority. Check out his web page and look at his drag racing stuff. Velocity stacks, etc. He rode the first sub-9 second quarter mile on a shaft driven bike. Totally BAD-A$$! -full Ohlins Yamaha R1 front end (minus wheel) with custom longer upper fork tubes to keep the rake proper, and custom billet triple clamps. Includes calipers, rotors, front fender, etc. -Custom built, single piece (minus cush drive) 17" billet aluminum rear wheel, 190 Avon Storm tire. Also personally built by John Cornell. -Chromed Stock front wheel, matching Avon tire. -Hand laid fiberglass tail, Lower air-dam, and custom airbrush paint from Mike Tardiff Jr., of MTA Graphics. Enfield, CT. This is the first airbrush job he ever did (tatoo artist), and it is unbelievable. It is "bio-mechanical", sort of like H.R. Geiger's stuff he did for the series "Alien". You should see what Mike is doing now with more experience. If you are looking for paint in the North East, you should see him. He is CHHHEEEEAAAAPPP! -DynoJet Stage 1 Kit -Progressive Dual Rear Shocks. -Billet Carb covers, swingarm pivot bolt covers. -Polished aluminum "Alien Skull" headlight. The eyes are the lights! hahaha -Many many powdercoated pieces. -Polished / Ported (mildly!) heads -BALLS!!!!!!! It is soon to get a Venture Final Drive, as the smaller rear tire has raised my cruising RPM's. I got one off ebay for 40 bucks, but have to make the left rear shock mount. I wish they had made the VMax a mono-shock rear. Oh, well. I will post some more pics when I find them. I have pics of the paint close up and the headlight, etc, somewhere. The first is Barkhamstead Reservoir in CT (I know it opens small, still trying to figure that one out). This second pic is from a ride the other day to an abandoned grain mill along a railroad bed in Robbins, NC. Pretty cool place. Kinda spooky. Enjoy! Uncle Nick.
  17. Check out my post of my custom VMax I built about 6 years ago! It's in the watering hole. I am Soooooo tempted to steal the motor out of the Max, but that would be ludicrous. Right?
  18. 1Rooster said I should attach my new-to-me bike pictures here. So, here it is, 92 Venture Royale. 77k miles, mint condition. Funny how I have already used this site to find the fix for my air ride circuit board (1Rooster told me so!). Failed in the first 50 miles after I bought the bike. Thanks guys! The photos are from up on the Blue Ridge Parkway, somewhere near Grandfather Mountain, and the Linville Gorge, in NC. Nick.
  19. OK, so I am brand new to the Venture scene, and to this forum. I have been around bikes and have rode and raced my whole life. I have been involved in many forums/communities. Have not run into a crowd this cool in a long time. Although I was going to join officially for the dollar a month deal at the end of my trial period, this thread made me do it immediately, instead of procrastinating. I am impressed and humbled by how generous you all are. Really gives a little faith back in humanity in these insane times. So......... Paypal sent, and membership complete. Thanks, guys and gals. Good luck with your daughter, Sir. Nick.
