  1. Good afternoon to all! Questions for Ontario riders - our rear license plates are tucked in pretty deep under the rear trunk on the RSVs... Can the 407 Toll cameras catch the plate or is the angle too steep? (crosses fingers and awaits response!) Thanks!
  2. Hey Guys, A question for the Canadians out there - Other than the Yamaha dealer, where do get your parts and supplies from? I'm thinking things like oil, filters. plugs etc - can they be found at auto places like PartSource or Canadian Tire? For actual Yamaha parts - is there a CDN online source that is cheaper than the dealer? (Or a USA online source with inexpensive shipping) Many Thanks! -Peter- Georgetown Ontario
  3. I just ordered these - double duty bike-wear and dog hikes. Waterproof - These were $180, on clearance for $59 CDN. http://www.marks.com/shop/en/marks-marksdefaultsalescatalog/mens/hikers/para-boot-29821 Only sized 10, 11, 12 left tho!
  4. Where are these haunted caves? How far from the Rainbow Bridge would we be talkin?
  5. Save some $$$$$ $6200 - with owner history available!!! 1.5 Hours from your home! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=79994 and.... Chicks dig the Millennium!!!!
  6. My bike is actually a 2000, not a 2003 (I have the MM paint scheme to prove it!! :-) ) Here are shots of my exhaust. Upon closer inspection this must have been a modification by a previous owner - the holes are not at all symmetrical - in fact they are all over the place!! (one of those Drunk mods?). What i don't understand is that these holes are somehow punched - not drilled. They are not round. Having said all that - the carb sync certainly seems to have addressed the exhaust popping and backfiring - the the exhaust doesn't seem to be problematic - just Interesting!! Any ideas?
  7. Met up with Don and Nancy tonight to talk bikes and get my carbs synced. What a fantastic experience - great couple, and thanks to this great forum that linked us!! The carb sync was fast and easy, and showed immediately that one cylinder on the right was way out of sync, running much richer than the others. Don made a few adjustments, and I am very happy to report that the backfiring and exhaust popping was almost completely gone on the ride home. Again - Thanks Don - a very enjoyable evening!!! -Peter-
  8. I do indeed have a small rubber cased switch to turn of my passing lamps, located beside the power outlet in the fairing. Well I'll be damned - it works too !!! How cool is this forum!?!?!?!?!?!
  9. How does the seat come off? I have found the 10mm nut on the right side - left side is different - what is the tool? (I didn't actually crawl under to look yet). Two bolts and it pops off? There's really a switch for the passing lamps!?!?!??
  10. Go here - it will give you the exact replacement cast. If you add the year to the search you can get down to specific colours. http://stores.ebay.ca/PinWall-Cycle-Parts-Inc/_i.html?_nkw=Royal+Star+Venture&submit=Search&_sid=12458664 Good Luck.
  11. When checking on Pinwall, do not put in a year. These bikes are all the same from 99 to 2013 - you should be able to find most of what you are looking for.
  12. This is incredible. I don't think I could WALK this course without knocking down at least 3 pylons.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQkGb2lrs_A]Police Motorcycle Challenge - YouTube[/ame] No point in ever running from this guy!
  13. Uh... I'm 6'3".... my driveway runs downhill... and I STILL wouldn't want to push this monster!!! She's HUGE!!!!!
  14. Dumb Owner it was! After a day on the trickle charger it fired up fast and willingly, and no further issues over the weekend. Thanks for the feedback!
  15. 1. Today would have been the first time riding it to work (between wonky weather and the need to shuttle 2 teenagers - not getting the riding time I'd like...) 2. I had my helmet on long enough this morning that my hair is bad... REALLY bad... Thanks for all the reassurances that I'm most likely just a dumb new owner with a solid bike!
  16. I have been tinkering with the bike the last couple of days, cleaning her, adding a 100LED tail light, etc. - without starting it or running it. I have had the power on for some of that time - can't really say how much time - maybe 30 to 40 minutes total. Sometime on ACC, sometimes full ON. I started her this morning - all was well (maybe a little slow to crank, but I can't be sure - memory is fuzzy at 7am). Ran for 1-2 minutes, dropped choke to regular idle, then realized I had to move a car to get her out. Shut her off with kill switch, left iginition on - and spent 3 or 4 minutes moving car. When I hit the start again the battery didnt have enough power to crank her - she tried then started clicking. I put the battery tender on her and took the car to work. Battery is new last spring (I was told) Since I am new to the Royal Star Venture - was this just me pushing the battery beyond reasonable service for such a big bike with lights and radio? How long is reasonable to run the radio in ACC without the engine? How long is too long to run the lights and radio in ON between starting? Thanks!
  17. How long do you all typically ride for on these evening outings?
  18. Wow! Thanks Don! What kind of schedule do you keep - are you available just weeknights and weekends or though the week sometimes too? I nice ride to Kitchener doesn't sound objectionable at all.
  19. Will a high quality bicycle pump with a built in gauge not work for adding air to the the shock/forks?
  20. Thanks Michael! Great to feel welcome in a new community!
  21. I noticed some mild exhaust popping and minor backfire (very minor) on deceleration only. Isn't some popping normal? The bike is a 2000 RSV MM that is new to me this month - power and performance *seem* OK but I have no frame of reference! I see in another thread that Seafoam is recommended (for everything it seems...) Question - which Seafoam product are we talking about - Motor Treatment? What do I do with it - full bottle in a full tank? Run it into carbs and let it work? Thanks!
  22. I have been told that a kick stand and spring from a Road Star brings a lowered RSV back to a normal lean angle. Perfect fit, lines up with the neutral safety switch no prob.
