I still have my venture with its single carb and she still rides amazing!

I did just trade an old bike for a 1986 Suzuki cavalcade 1400 and its engine looks very similar to my venture.
have an issue I’m hoping someone could figure out. It has its original 4 carbs and the bike runs but…. It is popping back from the carbs at low idle with slight hesitation.

some have suggested a lean condition. I put in a new fuel filter and have new plugs on the way.

the bike did sit for a few years but the fuel tank was clean .

at higher speeds the bike runs amazingly well but just have this low rpm missing/ hissing pop sound coming from the carbs , which is intermittent.

thoughts??

Congrats on your 'new to you' bike.  I really didn't know that Suzuki actually made touring bikes in the past.  I think the more you ride the bike, the better it will run.  As you have stated, plugs are on the way and that is a good start to start and hoping the bike will gradually improve over time.  I am not so familiar on the Suzuki, but basic maintenance of the bike is where I would start.

Thanks for the tips. Have lots to do on this bike. Probably the most comfortable bike I’ve ever ridden. Bells and whistles all over the place. It even has built in air cushions plus an auto level feature.
I will keep troubleshooting. Has to be the carbs but … who knows.

Try running it with the breather fully installed.

Give it a fresh oil change with top quality diesel oil.

Clean and sync the carbs.
