Adding Rear Lighting ?

Recommended Posts

I did a full write up on the 100 LED and run/turn/brake lights from Custom Dynamics a while ago

http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=619134&postcount=9

This is what I ordered.... and the 5% discount code has not changed in the past four years - rswarrior was it in 2009 and is the same today.

Fuzzy are you looking for more tail lamps or brake lamps or both? When I had my rstd I had the 100 led board tail/brake light and I put an inspection sticker plate (jp cycles part #600-447) behind the license plate and mountad a Whelen TIR3 led strobe to it. Made an awesome auxiliary brake light. I programmed mine not to strobe. Between the whelen and the custom dynamic led board it was very bright and clean setup.

Also wiring is a very easy with the wiring directly behind the license plate.

Was looking at both jfoster. Thank you for the information. I purchased the Custom Dynamics Cluster rear signal lights and also the Harley extra bar and lights. There are four lights on the Harley bar. I got it all ordered last night and today.

I ordered the Harley rear lights. $139.99 FREE SHIPPING

Here is a link for how to do it on the Venture, Could work for a Tour DeLuxe.

http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3768

Also here is a shameless plug for my product, you will not need it for the Harley Lights, but could be helpful if you are ading other additional lights.

Thanks M61Amech !

tail light harness worked great !

Made the install of my hyperlites go soooo much faster than if I had to make all the connections myself.

Much Appreciated.

2007 RSV -

Added the 16 LED Hyper-lites up high like I said. I bent some corner braces and spray painted them gloss black. Bent them a few times and mounted them under the rear cargo rack posts.

You can see them clearly mounted here

This is just running lite position. Brake lite is so much brighter.

What I like is that I have light UP HIGH at eye level for a driver- maybe it will catch their attention away from texting far enough back to stop!

OH - almost forgot the shameless plug for M61A1MECH's harness for quick wiring the tail lights - he makes it so easy it is dumb to work the wires yourself !

Got the 100 LED Board in the mail today. Installed it in about 2 minutes and it is definitely brighter than the bulb. I would guess 30-40 %.

Not as bright as the hyperlites in running mode but when I hit the brake it is like HELLO ! RED IN YOUR FACE !!!

I recommend the 100 LED board for more rear light and for a whole lot more rear light get the 16 led Hyperlites.

I received the Harley lights today. Got the Dynamic clusters two days ago. I will be installing soon. The Harley lights made in Taiwan are really a nice product for the money. Made of heavy metal, the package weighed 9 lbs, and nice looking chrome. I am impressed so far, the plastic lenses are the round bullet type in red. A good coat of wax will go on the bar and light brackets before installing. I bought wire and quick connects, male female, to wire the light bar. Light 18 gauge wire for all wiring.

Got the lights 95% done. I still got to wire the load equalizer. I really love them. Spent about 6 hours total so far. Taking my time, soldering and tying every wire and covering the wires with loom and or aquarium tubing. I really love them. A lot if work but worth it.

Well I finally got time to add the load equalizer. It is a single output for two signal lights only. Easy to wire with supplied splicing things. The blue things in the picture. Violet goes to your brown, brown goes to your green, and black with red stripe goes to your black. Done deal, easy instal. I think it was $15.00 from eBay.

I installed under my seat and behind the battery. Clean the area with alcohol and use the supplied sticky back rubber pad.

Grr I hate scotch loks. But sometimes ya just have to use them. I bought some LED marker lights. They had the clear lenses but show red for the rears and amber for up front. I took the OEM reflectors off (front and rear) and mount the lights. I built a couple of brackets for the very back by the bags. Made circuits so lights are on for run and also flash for turns.
