just wanted to know if anyone has ever used the aqua box for a garmin GPS? i have alwaysed used my gps on trips but have had to use a plastic bag to cover it if it should rain, to cheap to buy one that is water proof. i saw this aqua box on the internet and wondered if you can see through the cover that goes over the unit?:whistling::depressed:

I use an Aquabox for my GPS (not garmin).

It does the job. Stays dry even though I've got a hole drilled in the bottom to get cables in. Remember if you're going to run wires to it to get a box large enough for the connectors. Mine ended up barely fitting with connector to the intercom patch cable.

I don't have any problem operating the touch screen through the membrane, at least not any more than I'd expect with the gloves I wear.

It's got a place to padlock it shut, but I don't use it. Seems kind of pointless when the thing could be cut open with a pocket knife.

I power mine too. It does throw off enough heat that the foam pad behind it got a little funky.

thanks. i was wondering if you can see through the plastic ok or is there a glare from the sun? this is not something you would be taking on and off pending on the weather. i thought also that the touch screen may not work as well going though the clear plastic cover.

My GPS isn't very visible in the sunlight anyhow, that's why I've got it piped to the intercom so I can hear the directions.

I don't think the cover makes it any worse, may even make it better because it's got a bit of a matte finish so it doesn't glare.

well i broke down and bought my new mounting bracket for my HD. i had called the company, they had an 800 number and the lady there said that sometimes there can be a glare looking through the clear cover in sun light. since i use this gps unit in my car and on my bike adn having to run power into the box everytime i want to use it, i decided not to get the aqua box. going to keep using the trusty sandwich bag. cheaper to. thanks for your suggestions.:322:

MiCarl, your post about "seems sensless to pad lock when they can cut it open" made me think back to when I had my convertable. I use to drive it to the airport for work. I would lock it up while I was gone. The old top was shot so I replaced it. I was talking to the guy that installed it for me and he said just get everything out of site and lock in trunk. Dont lock doors because they will just slash the top to get in. Made sense so I never locked it after that. Seemed pretty pointless.

As it was put to me once, a lock is there just to keep the hounest hounest, it they are going to steal it the $2.00 lock that will fit the case is not going to stop them but if it is just an opertunity they may take it..... had a lot of cars around our place ransacked but they were all cars that had been left unlocked.

My son had used my Jimmy and guess left it unlocked, all the glove boxes and storage areas pulled out but all my CDs were still there..... does knowone but me like Billy Joel and Meatloaf?
