elmicko Posted May 14, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 14, 2011 Is there a trick for getting to the air filters? I need to change the filters, but so far I haven't been able to figure out how to get to them.
jfoster Posted May 14, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 14, 2011 You have to take the lower fairings off, two bolts in the front and one in the rear, there also plastic tab at center connecting the two halves. Then unbolt the filter housing and loosen the hose clamp to slid the filter housing off. The remove the screws to separate the filter housing. Then there's some screws securing the filter to the housing.

V7Goose Posted May 14, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 14, 2011 Easy to access the bolts if you remove the lower cowling, but not really too bad to get them off with a U-joint on your 10mm socket. Goose

Goose I'll try that the next time, seems I usually do things the hard way.
elmicko Posted May 14, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted May 14, 2011 Thanks for all the responses. It'll probably be next week before I have time to tackle it. Does anyone have any pics of what I'm trying to get at with the 10mm socket and a "U" joint? If I don't have to pull the lowers off, I'd really rather not. Thanks. Guest scarylarry Posted May 14, 2011 Share #7 Posted May 14, 2011 Your best bet would be to ride to the Murfreesboro next weekend when cookiemonster comes and we could do it in a zip... Your cost would be gas and just think of roads you could ride... 70 west you are here..
aharbi Posted May 14, 2011 Share #8 Posted May 14, 2011 Use a flexible shaft on a 1/4 hand driver. Leave the lowers on. Not hard at all.
