Well, I guess I went and done it...

I just bought my Venture Royale last August and even though I really enjoy the bike, I wanted more. So, I watched and watched and looked at literally hundreds of ads on eBay and Craigslist and elsewhere and finally found the right one. Naturally, it's on the other side of the country and will take about 3 weeks to get here, but I'm still pumped.

Beautiful bike..I love mine..Word of caution, when you get it watch those floorboards out front on the crash bars..They will scrape real bad as the Wing corners like a sport bike and YES you will drag them..Enjoy!

That is one beautiful bike, what year is that?

Thanks, Raider. It's an '01. I could've gotten a newer one for the same money, but as others have noted, this one's already been decorated to the 9's. Lotsa extra chrome bits including the wheels. Upgraded speakers and a 240 watt amp. Heated leather seat. The seller said there are over 1000 led's to light the bike up for shows (He has a table full of trophies he won with this bike). But, the big decider for me was that it was recently upgraded with the complete Traxxion Dynamics suspension system front and rear with 'All Balls' steering head bearing kit and 5-piece fork brace. I can't wait to get in some twisties to check it out!

Guest my14car

What a nice buy 01 or 10 there the same and will last forever. I upgraded from a 05 Royal Star Tour Deluxe.Your going to love your new wing the ride is unbelievable compared to what you had. I found the stock pegs work fine i felt a little cramped up on mine when frist got it. But it is a very comfortable bike. You will be scrapping your pegs an floor boards these things are rice rockets with saddle bags. Wish you well ride safe Enjoy

Looks like a great bike for you, and you should enjoy the heck out of it. I would mention one maybe...maybe downer. Blue lights are sometimes illegal on vehicles other than police or fire. Check that out, and maybe those are for static display only.

Looks and sounds great!! Did you keep your 1st gen or sell it??

You are always welcome here at thois site you know!!

I've still got it. I want to keep it, but the wife says I want to sell it. It's funny...I pulled into a local Honda dealership last weekend hoping for an offer of a test ride (no luck there). Right behind me was a fella on an '06 Wing. He walks right up and says "Wow, there's a million of them (pointing at his bike) but you don't see one of these very often!" I like driving the extraordinary, it's one of the reasons I got the Venture in the first place. But, for a number of reasons, I decided that it just wouldn't work for me long term.

When I came to that realization, I began the process of looking for another bike. There are lots of touring bikes around but I was able to quickly narrow it down to the Wing or a Harley. In the Harley lineup, I really only liked the looks of the Road Glide and the Electra Glide. Both models have pros and cons, but ultimately I chose the Road Glide based on the frame mounted fairing. So, now it was a competition between the Glide and the Wing.

Long story short (or at least not as long...) I gave the Glide points for style and performance upgrade-ability but in every other category, (stock performance, handling, comfort, bells and whistles, reliability, cargo capacity, etc.) the Wing won hands down.

Another amusing anecdote: While I was still looking at Road Glides, I spotted different ads where a Glide owners was selling a bike but was willing to trade for a Wing. That pretty much cinched it for me.

Thanks, Don. That's a good point. I think the PO put those on mostly for shows. I never really figured on driving around like that anyway. [Flashback to Robert Redford and Electric Horseman] :yikes:
