bluerstd08 Posted September 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 14, 2010 Here is some progress on my fairing. A friend helped me make the brackets out of plywood as templates to scan into the water-jet machine. As for paint I'm thinkin I'm gonna go with black for now, just to get rid of that white. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/0913101329.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/0912101249.jpg

bluerstd08 Posted September 15, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted September 15, 2010 I'll work on that. Using a cell phone to document the progress. I'm gonna strip it down this weekend and do some painting, and clean up the edges a little bit.
hunter 1500 Posted September 16, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 16, 2010 What make of fairing is that? I adapted the fairing that I had on my LC1500 to fit the RSTD and it was real easy.
bluerstd08 Posted September 17, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted September 17, 2010 The fairing is off of a 1993 HD Electra Glide Police bike. I had to do some cutting to get rid of the headlight mount and of the inner to make room for the speedo. It wasnt too bad, just used a dremel and a steady hand. I just got the aluminum brackets made today and will be sanding some tonight and finish up by the weekend. I'm gonna paint it black for the time being. Had to take the plastic parts for the quick disconnect windshield and the top holes on the fairing bracket fit right on. I then just made a brace to go to the lower one and it was done. I've since had the fairing painted with Colorite paint. Pricey but well worth it because the match is perfect. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41001
bluerstd08 Posted September 18, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted September 18, 2010 http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/sanding.jpg Sanding is slow buts its coming along a little bit at a time. During lunch break at work
bluerstd08 Posted September 21, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted September 21, 2010 Almost finished sanding now and added a Clearview windshield with vent and recurve to the HD fairing. The 3 hold will fit the 5 hole with a little bit of grinding.

hunter 1500 Posted September 23, 2010 Share #11 Posted September 23, 2010 It's getting there. Your bike looks a lot like what I have done with mine. I have the same cup holder even. I have a luggage rack on the back fender. Did you go with the Colorite paint. Like I said I used it and the reducer from them and the painter used his clear coat and it is a perfect match. bluerstd08 Posted September 24, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted September 24, 2010 I went to Napa and they used a "Spectrophotometer" to take a picture. I have an old family friend that owns a body shop and is gonna spray it for me. Hopefully have it cosmetically finished with in a week. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/0923100844.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/0924100827.jpg

hunter 1500 Posted March 23, 2011 Share #16 Posted March 23, 2011 Looking good. Did you use the factory paint from colorite?
bluerstd08 Posted March 23, 2011 Author Share #17 Posted March 23, 2011 No, I went to NAPA and they matched it using a camera thing. $34.00 in paint vs colorite price. Its a really close match. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/IMG_1140.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/IMG_1141.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/IMG_1142.jpg
