It used to work OK but lately the problem started. I'm using a new Nolan 103 helmet with the J&M headset, Any sugestions.
rickardracing Posted September 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2010 Crack open the fairing, unplug the 4 large round connectors. Spray some electrical connector on the connectors, put them togeter and take them apart a few times, spray them again, blow then out with compressed air, then wipe some dielectric grease on the female side and put them together. I had a problem of my squelch no longer working. I was picking up chatter from miles away. Once I did this, everything started working fine. It will take about 45 minutes but well worth it. I plan on doing this every spring when I get the bike ready for summer. Let me know how it works out. Randy

flb_78 Posted September 8, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 8, 2010 99 model, It may be the antenna finally giving up. But you did mention a NEW helmet setup and that if you talk louder that they can hear you better. You might just need to adjust where the microphone is. kj5ix Posted September 8, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 8, 2010 If you have to talk louder to be heard there is a mic mis-match. Try another headset/helmet. Mic could be turned around etc:
etcswjoe Posted September 8, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 8, 2010 You may also want to check your VSWR. Here is a link that will give you a good idea on how to check your VSWR. http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs/Setting_SWR.htm I switched to Firesticks using the Marshall Mod. http://www.bludolphintravel.com/gmg/marshallmod.htm
