cb1313 Posted May 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2010 I have received my R/S kickstand to install on my Lowered 2005 Venture. What size do I need to drill the stand hole to fit my Venture ? t/y Cb
wrongway2 Posted May 11, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) Hi Cb: The part number is the same for the factory kickstand on my 2006 RSTD and your 2005 Venture. I guess if you're putting your bike on a lift and removing the stock kickstand first, it'll be easy to get the hole size. I've still got the stock kickstand so when I get home tonight I'll see what size drill bit fits the hole and I'll let you know. If somebody gives you the answer first, I won't bother. wrongway2 Posted May 11, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 11, 2010 unfortunately I don't have a drill bit that fits exactly. 3/8 is smaller than the hole. I have a drill bit that I think is 1/2" and it's too big. I guess that leaves 7/16" but I'm not sure. Sorry Greg
Freebird Posted May 11, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2010 Whatever it is, it's probably actually a metric size.
wrongway2 Posted May 12, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 12, 2010 You're right (again) Freebird. It's a 12mm hole in the stock kickstand.
massey130 Posted May 12, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 12, 2010 It looks like i may need to get some metric drill bits. I currently only have SAE. this is what i have been doing - i use my calipers to measure stuff and then get the closest fit and then use the dremmel to grind out that last bit for a custom fit. retc403 Posted May 13, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 13, 2010 Hey "wrong way2"..anybody ever tell you you got a bug in your puter? Can't resist trying to wipe the varmit off my screen. I even thought about gettin my 40 cal Glock after em.
wrongway2 Posted May 13, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 13, 2010 The bug on my screen has been an irritant to many a cat from what I've been told. But it's my bug and he likes it here. After drilling the hole bigger on the shorter kickstand there's still lots of metal left around the hole.
