1984 Venture Question????

Found a 84 venture with a new paint job,runs great but......charging system doesn't charge.Needs to be charged after daily rides but other than that it appears to be a great bike...and the price is a STEAL..Where would one start looking for this problem?:crying:

Check the three white wire connector before doing anything else. They get corroded and over heat, lose it's connection, and causing the stator not to work. There's a ton of info on the subject here on this board. Do a search for 3 or three white. Also put a multi-tester on the battery posts while it's running. You should get 14vdc to 14.2vdc when the engine rmp is over 2000. If you are getting output you have a bad battery. After that it's replacing the rectifyer or stator.
