After a long time of contemplating whether or not to buy a helmet camera, Santa has delivered to me a GoPro Hero 3+. An expensive toy? or a worthwhile tool when riding? What I am asking my VR brothers here is a few usage questions. Do you film all the time when you are riding? Is it better to mount on the helmet or on the handlebars? If I mount it on the helmet, should I be concerned that it will pop off? Will the coolness wear off and it will sit in the house more than on a ride? Anything else I am not thinking off? Thanks Dave

Yea Mark, Not looking forward to that either. They are calling for 6 to 10 inches by sometime Wednesday. I can handle the cold and snow, but would rather just get the cold. People around here don't know how to drive in it. Dave

It makes the lid wobble when it is open, and I was just afraid something was going to crack. I had not noticed the loose screws at first, and thought there was a hinge problem. I will get some of the blue locktite today and get this fixed.

Has anyone had issues with the loosening of the screws for saddlebag hinges? It looks like I have to take off the inside material hinge stop to get to them. Should I just tighten them or should I get some locktite for the job?

You mentioned maybe new helmets as well? My wife and I have the Nolan helmets. We have the built in wired communication systems. (wire between helmets). The helmets are designed for their own system to fit in modular. Not hanging on the side. Had them for a couple of years. We are now looking at upgrading them to the bluetooth units. They also just fit into the helmets. She want to be able to use the phone when we ride, and I want to pair to the GPS. Plus the helmets themselves are really great too.

I don't know about that, and it will always be debated, But I like to interstate cruise on my RSTD.

When we were looking for a new bike, we test rode a few RSV's. Old and new. A little top heavy for me. Took the RSTD out for a ride and fell on love with her. Changed out the seats and put a luggage rack on the bag with an xlarge tourmaster bag. Recently rode 1500 miles from Denver to Phoenix and back 2up and had a great time. This is the best bike I have ever owned. And living in Denver, it handles wonderfully in the mountains. 2up and accelerating up the mountains with power to spare.

There is a dealer out here in Denver that rents the Spyders. He also sets up day rides for bikers and gets people to try the Spyders as well. I think they look cool, but I would really miss the leaning in the twisties.

I have Progressive for my car and my bike. Have had nothing but good things to say about them. We had our car stolen and totaled and a bike accident and they were very good and quick with everything. Couldn't be happier.

This is a topic I have also been interested in and look forward to any replies as well.

First off, it was 1710 miles total. We went about 400 miles a day. 2 days down to Phoenix and 2 days back to Denver. 3 days in Phoenix. Just a little riding there. The front seat is the stock seat with the Butler mod. The pillion is a Mustang seat with the Butler mod.

Lots of flooding up here in Colorado. No fires though. Also we saw the aftermath of some flooding in Aztec and Farmington NM.

My wife a and I just returned from our first big ride on the RSTD. We went from Denver to Phoenix and back. Went down to visit my first Grandson. Two day ride both ways with 1720 miles covered. It was the most fun we have had in a long time. The bike performed almost flawlessly with the exception of some backfiring above 11,000 feet and it didn't like the heat in Phoenix with the oil I had in it from Denver. But it rode great and I found a sweet spot at around 75 mph with the cruise on. I am looking forward to going elsewhere next year.

Hey Gary, I am up here in Denver. Moved up from Phoenix 2 years back. I actually get better gas milage up here. I've also made several trips up the mountains above 10k with no noticeable power loss. I always ride 2 up here. Welcome to the best riding in the country. Sent from my DROID4

Do you remember the specific model number? Also I noticed the different brands use different mounting systems around the backrest. The kuryakn is just a large Velcro wrap. Did it hold snuggly enough? Sent from my DROID4

Ok, funds are now here, going to buy the OEM luggage rack and some sort of luggage. Next question would be, does any one have a preference on luggage brands. I am looking at saddleman, they have bars that make the bag fit tight around the backpad. Any thoughts ? Sent from my DROID4

If I had the money right now for a hitch, I would buy the rack. I would be putting some kind of foam between the bag and the fender to prevent scratching. Eventually I will be putting the rack on, but financially, I can't do it before this trip.

Hi All, We are prepping for a trip from Denver to Phoenix to go see the new grandson. I have neither a luggage rack or luggage bag for the RSTD. I have been pricing the OEM rack for the bike and it is going for around $150. I have yet to start pricing luggage bags. My question is that I have seen some luggage bags that strap on to the back of the passenger backrest rather tightly. Would it be OK to use one of these with out a rack? We don't want a huge one, just something big enough for a weekend? Maybe let it sit on the fender itself. Just wondering here. Dave

I have to totally agree with the Kenda Kruz. I had them on my Suzuki Boulevard and am currently putting them on my RSTD. I really like how they handle and the price is right.

If you are going to have the rally out east, I vote for a mini west rally. The 4 corners would be a great place. Close to all the cool roads in southern Colorado. Sent from my DROID4
