  1. I have a 2002 RSV and was given a centerstand off of an 84 venture. Matching up the bolt holes to the bracket on the chassis seems to be exact. Does anyone know if I can just attach it to the existing holes on the chassis and if I can, does someone have a diagram on how the spring and lever attach to the stand and frame?
  2. Update: finally recieved the computer from overseas. Hooked it up and bike started right up. All the guages are now working. The bike is running rich believe. I am going to have to get a sync tool and sync the carbs and attempt to adj the air/fuel mixture.
  3. Update on the bike, I purchased it and the previous owner already did a full fluid change and put new tires on. I got it for $5800 and am very happen with it. Thanks for all the help and feed back.
  4. Goodwrench, if this deal falls through, I might be interested in yours.
  5. getting older yes, want to slow down no. Use to have an 03 silverado, miss the bike and this should take its place.
  6. I will let you know, but I think I will be purchasing this bike with all the positive feed back I am getting.
  7. yes it is in ny and thanks for the help. Ill keep you posted.
  8. I am thinking of buying a 2002 midnight venture with 10,000 miles for $6400. Was curious to know if this is a good price and what I should look for.
  9. thanks for the reply, I am going to try and grab it tomorrow. Hope it works out.
  10. I might be able to get a 1985 venture with 60,000 miles on it for about $800. Was curious to know if this year bike has that problem with the weld breaking by the swing arm that I have read in a couple of posts and if the bike is actually worth buying or should I look for a later model?
  11. A friend of mine is a manager at an electronic manufacturing company. He had on of the techs look at the TCI. They replaced a couple of resistors but said the board looks like it took a voltage spike and was no good. they gave me the TCI back to try. The bike wont even start, even got a back fire out of it. I am guessing that the TCI is no good and I need to get an new one. I am not sure whether to look for a used one or piurchase the one that Dingy recommends from overseas.
  12. ok...since I got the readings that dingy told me and no reading for ground, i am guessing that the tci unit is bad?
  13. If I am not getting any reading from the black wire, does that mean the igniter os bad, pick up coils are bad, or is there a ground wire that can be bad for the igniter or pick up coil?
  14. The readings were 111 to 112 on the ohms when I went from black to the 4 other terminals. When I check the black to ground I get no reading at all on the meter.
  15. My mistake. I was testing the wrong harness. All wires tested at around the 110-115 ohms.
  16. I tested both sides of the plug, disconnected before testing. No reading at all. Even tried a second meter to make sure. Only reading I get is when I touch the black and red striped wire under the black and white wire.
  17. I tested both sides of the plug, disconnected before testing. No reading at all. Even tried a second meter to make sure.
  18. When I do the ohm test, key on or off and does the connector have to be together? And if no reading...tci no good?
  19. Well I opened up the tci unit. Didn't look good from the beginning. All the screws were rusted and broke as I took them out. Pc board shows water damage. I didn't take it out, but looking on the other side, I saw rust.
  20. I unpluged the connectors from the tci. A couple of the terminals are rusty. I am going to try and clean them. I am also going to try and clean the plug terminals too. Where is the pick up located so I can check that too?
  21. i switched the plugs with the #1 and #2 coil. Got a strong spark out of the #2 coil. I am guessing that the TCI is bad?
  22. I did what gary suggested, I checked the plugs for the coils to make sure they were on the correct coil, which they are. I then checked for spark. It appears the right front coil, I think that is the #2 coil is not firing. Also, the tach is not working. I have a friend how located a coil pack off of an 86 venture. He is getting them and is going to send to me. I am thinking that it is the coil, due to lack of spark and no tach reading. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. I also noticed that if I restrict the air flow through the front of the air box, the idle picks up, i am not sure if this is due to having a dead cykinder or a vacuum leak.
