  1. it’s a problem with the front brake switch. There’s one screw holding it on and when you remove you’ll see the opening in the back. You want to spray electrical contact cleaner in there and work it back and forth. and yes there’s tons of info on the Facebook page. Actually there’s like 1000 times more info than this forum. This forum is pretty much dead when it comes to this newer model. While it’s a good place to find info for older ventures it’s lacking for the 3rd generation. good luck.
  2. That’s exactly the rpm range for mine too, right about 3000 - 3500. I’m still going to take it to 10mm. I haven’t pulled off the front pulley cover yet to inspect how it’s tracking.
  3. Following up on the belt adjustment. Dealer double checked belt tension with opinion of two techs. Said the belt was perfect. The next day I got the rear wheel in the air and found the tension at the tightest spot was 3-4mm, I’m calling it 3.5mm. Wheel in the air calls for 5-7mm. So much for the dealer. I set it at 8mm and tweaked in the right side a little to align the belt. I’m saying I’ve knocked out about 80% of the noise. Next time I’ve got the bike in the air I’ll set it to 10mm and see where I am at eliminating the noise completely.
  4. Thanks, I got the manual and the numbers. I’ll see if I can loosen it up a bit.
  5. The video kinda says it all. Opinions please if you will. https://youtu.be/BvwEVJ8MHxk
  6. I had the quick release system on my 2016 Ultra. It worked well except I was always adjusting it from time to time because it would develop a rattle. But it was heavy and cumbersome putting it on and off. I imagine the Venture tour pack would be a great deal lighter. I haven’t seen anything out there but there are a few who have removed them. When they showed me my bike it was still in the crate and it had the tour pack unbolted from the rear and tilted forward to get it into the crate. So I’m sure it wouldn’t be difficult for someone with a little fabricating skill to devise a system that would be simple.
  7. I’ve only had my 2018 Star Venture TC for about 2 weeks, a left over still in the crate. I’m still in the break-in period. I rode in 88 degree weather for a short ride recently and noticed substantial heat on my left lower leg and underneath my thigh. Of course I was wanting to hear the pipes so I revved it a little. When I held my hand down between my leg and the motor while riding it felt like a blast furnace. But I had already installed my TAB Performance 2.5 slip-ons without the Power Commander 5 so it might have been running a little lean. But tomorrow I’ll be installing the PC5 and changing the the break-in oil and filter and using Yamalube synthetic. I’m hoping it cools down a bit. Everyone says they cool down after break-in so we shall see. I’m a fan of V-Twins. I’ve had a few and they all run hot. I had a water-cooled 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic years ago and it also got hot, especially when that big radiator fan kicked in. My last Harley, a 2016 Ultra, a twin cool, was so hot with the catalyst underneath the passenger boards that my wife couldn’t ride with me until I changed out the header pipe and mufflers. Still, it was a hot bike when it was over 80 degrees ambient temperature but no where near what it was before I change the exhaust. The only air cooled bike I’ve had that heat was not an issue was a 2012 BMW R1100R. Never felt anything even on the hottest days. One good thing about the Venture is that the catalytic converters are in the mufflers so it’s easy removal when you put custom mufflers on.
  8. Installed a set of TAB slipons and the left side isn’t aligning with the cutout in the saddlebag. It was off about 3/4 of an inch to the right. So I put a 3/4 inch spacer and a longer bolt on the mounting and it lined it up with the cutout. Another guy had the same issue that he had posted on YouTube. When I ordered them I called TAB and asked them about it. They feigned ignorance on the subject and said it was probably an earlier run and it’s been corrected now. NOT! I expected better quality control for $600.
  9. Thanks, the bike is new. A new 2018, just 1000 miles. I rode it a couple hundred miles today and the idle settled down to about 950.
  10. Thanks for the good advice. It supposed to idle about 900-1000 rpm but mine is generally 1000-1100. I guess let the dealer figure it out.
  11. Thanks. Loving my Star Venture TC. Looking forward to sharing and receiving info with other members here.
