  1. Will do. Thanks for all the tips. This is more than exciting because I know nothing about this make bike. I will start researching to become familiar and also familiarize myself with this forum. I still need to pay my 12 bucks too.
  2. Thanks very much for your compliments. Can't wait for march 20th. Will be asking you many questions on this "venture "
  3. Yes it is! Thanx for the info. I will have to find room for the big royale. Here are my other 3 bikes. White - 2006 Kawasaki 1600 I customized. Blue - 1967 Yamaha 180- took one year to rebuild. It was a barn find in 20 different boxes. Whine/ maroon - 1980 goldwing 1100 I rebuilt .
  4. If I can find a late 85 engine (2nd gear problem already fixed) Wouldn't that be a better way to go than rebuilding this one? Could even a later model engine, say 86 or 87 work?
  5. Thanks. The hunt is the best part. I will take a video when i load it onto my trailer. I get it March 20th.
  6. Man, I'm excited !. I can quit my job now !
  7. Yes, that's it. Only drawback is that its pricey but you can reuse it over and over. I still have some from a few years ago just make sure you keep cap on tight. Its the best stuff, works fast and is non toxic , odorless too. glad to help !
  8. Yes, I'm very particular with everything especially the tank. I've pulled many goldwing tanks and soaked with evapo rust , then rinse. The evapo rust even cleaned the sending unit back to original state. It appears as though this yamaha has a similar design to the goldwing. I.e. Tank under seat, linked brake lines, etc etc. Japanese design I guess. thanks for the heads up.
  9. I was thinking the same. Might have to soak gas tank too . I'm curious to see how many miles she has!
  10. This is the part I really enjoy. The good news is it appears to have been stored inside too. I've restored many goldwings but this will be my first venture and I think it's a gorgeous machine !!
  11. thank a bunch for this info. I found another pic on his ad that reveals royale emblem. I'm 2 hrs from the bike and can only get to see it on my vacation time in a few weeks. I'm really excited! Here's another pic.
  12. Okay thanx, so based on the pic of my future bike I posted, this is an 83 royale? How is the royale different from the venture? And is this a royale for sure ?
  13. Thanx. $12 yearly is peanuts with all the professional help available, or I might clean her up, change fluids, rebuild carbs, clean gas tank and take her for a spin, either way, I'm happy I've found this site. You guys appear to be nice and very willing to help. How do I pay my fee?
  14. There is no way I could do this !! Way out of my league.
  15. Update !! He accepted the $500 will pick up in a few weeks. Get ready !! Will need everyone's help. xmas comes early for me !!
  16. Okay, here is my goldwing. I spent a year rebuilding.
  17. Who thinks he should take the $500. I think that's a reasonable offer considering it hasn't ran in years and the 2nd gear is out.
  18. Are you keeping a detailed list of expenses?
  19. Ingenuity is always a plus . Well done !
  20. Beautiful work, well done !!
  21. Wow, impressive work. I might be doing this soon.
  22. Wow, beautiful bike. I have an update. I am not going to trade my goldwing. I really was not thinking clearly since I'm starstruck on this yamaha. After some words of wisdom on this forum, I have offered him $500 and he is thinking about it. Will keep you posted. Hope he accepts. i really want this bike !!
